I am currently suffering Cop Show Cravings following the Tragic and oft lamented demise of The Wire and glossy w**k like CSI just cant cut the Moutarde in comparison. Theres a 3 page blurb on The Last episode/series of The Shield in the Guardian this weekend and it seems to rate it quite highly. I've never heard of it despite it being 8 years old, is it any good? or just a load of old ballwash?(?)

I'm a big Wire fan but can also heartily give a big "hell yeah" to the shield. It's very different though. The first two or three series are very visceral with handicam footage and action galore. It gets more political and subtle as it goes along though. Moral grey areas are the order of the day with the main characters being sympathetic one minute and appalling liberal sentiment the next.

I've yet to watch all of it but latter series have forest whittaker and glenn close so it can't be bad can it!?

All in all... yes. Go watch.

Arf, arf.:)

I recently started watching it from S1, having seen a few episodes before but not really followed it, and found myself getting into it.

If you're a fan of The Wire and The Sopranos I'd say give it a go. I've made it to S3 and have given myself a break - it does follow something of a formula but also brings in some good elements in the form of the character's back-stories and still manages to surprise as it is not always easy viewing, blurring the line between good / bad.

I say you should do it.

Come on you can't beat "Medium"..................It's like soooo reaaaalistic

( i have quietly got the hots for her.....you know ....the wooden puppety one... what she's real ...no sh*t.....Grrr sltrrrrr)

    • Vans are restricted to one hour a day 8:30 to 9:30 and have to be pre-booked.  So long as you went with and were able to show the right ID then I doubt it would be an issue unless the builders van is emblazoned with their branding as businesses aren't allowed to use it.
    • Perhaps they would run into the issue that Lambeth had if they put it on the  Rye - maybe they would need planning permission for change of use if more than 28 days of permitted development are used up for all the other events plus this. So perhaps emphasising that the two areas are distinct from each other actually helps the council.
    • I think the council could make more of that too. Sell a ticketed event with a local celebrity turning the lights on, followed by a street party with christmas carols and a christmas pop song cover band.
    • When we had lots of rubble to dispose of, we hired a zip an and took it. Didn't have to pay, but they don't allow vans in Sundays from memory
