Popular things that you just never "got"

Plus anytime anyone ever sees him now is on some arena/theatre show and I don't like comedy in that atmos from anyone at all. But I saw him at the Tattershall castle a few times and he was pretty good

i've only ever really seen him on panel shows or as I'm flicking past ...at the appollo, and vaguely wondered how he became so big doing dull derivative observational comedy that was tired 20 years ago.

It's more what he stands for - more than the man himself - that I dislike. The triumph of competent middle-of-the-roadness, lapped-up by millions. Harmless but nondescript routines professionally packaged and delivered, like an M&S sandwich. The real problem is for every Michael Mac there are ten John Bishops on the way.

I quite like the idea of being a crusty high court judge, but alas no! Usually just watch Netflix... very rarely turn on broadcast TV, except for Cbeebies occasionally!

What exactly IS quinoa?

New Addington is very popular with people from the Croydon/Bromley area. it's seen as a 'step-up' from those places bordering the North Downs. I've never really liked it not understood it's popularity.

Some sort of grain... you could use it in place of couscous I guess. Doesn't taste of anything much. It is supposed to be good for you, high in protein or something.

I think you're wrong there, Louisa. New Addington makes Bromley look like Knightsbridge. You'd be hard pushed to find a house there going for over 300K.

Jeremy I must agree it isn't a very nice area at all, and yet it borders some rather wealthy Surrey/Kent/M25 border towns. I've always found it to be a bit rough around the edges. Many of the people who live there are from Croydon and Bromley council geographic areas though, and the few I know have always refered to it as a step up from where they came.
