Does anyone here use twitter? The world and his brother are on about it at the moment.

www.twitter.com

I tried it this morning and found it quite possibly the most mind-numbing self-indulgent waste of time on the interweb. The idea of people writing a minor monologue of their lives every few minutes irritated me beyond distraction, and reading some bo11ocks about some Welsh cab drivers jaunt down to Costcutter to "buy a tin of beans" almost tipped me over the edge...

Felt good to get that off my chest. I hope I'm not alone!

I love Twitter. It is great fun. I get a running commentry from my chums all day on what they are up to and we make eachother laugh, because we are all encountering the same chaos and challenges...

Botox or not?

Munchkins behaving like angels...OHMYGOD

Puppy discovering his sexuality and defiling my carpet

Puppy eating bottle of pink food colouring and turning his fur cerise pink

Decorators hang wall paper in my living room and I find too late that it looks like a tribute to Coronation street

Discovering my house-keeper's acrylic multi-coloured underwear in my tumble dryer and it looks like the clearance section from TK Max (why was she washing it in MY HOUSE???)

It is a nice way to keep up with chums!

I don't mind it - more signed up to follow peeps than to expect them all to be hanging on my 140 characters.

It's like they've condensed FB to my favourite bits (the status comment) without all the bits that irritate me eg, all the quizzes/requests etc that go with it.

Instead on Twitter there are interesting things linked to especially by Stephen Fry and Ben Goldacre and its much more take it or leave it and don't get repeatedly reminded about it!

Wouldn't say its for everyone, but it's currently floating my boat! :-$

    • I agree with that The voters authorised strong austerity in 2010 and kept voting for it for 14 years - for that reason alone, given Labour have been in power for only months I can't find my else able to equate them as bad as each other. Yet. It may happen and given Labour's poor decision making and comms to date I wouldn't be surprised if they end up that way Problem is the voters say they want one thing (lower prices/better public services/things working) but then don't reward any government that tries to deliver -  and they explicitly said they wanted higher prices with Brexit and lower public services by voting Cons in for 14 years - so they got what they wanted, they just don't like the reality Whoever is elected now has to find a way to address those years of underinvestment and diminished growth - there is no painless way out. But blaming immigration for everything (Reform speciality) is only making everything worse
    • That’s good to know, but it just wasn’t clear to me.
    • The sad reality is that the failures of the Tories and Labour cannot solely be attributed to Brexit, as convenient as that may be
    • Male dog - possibly German shepherd cross (tan/golden colour with some black markings) - found wandering the streets in this area. Found at approx 8.45 am Tuesday 6 May.  He had a collar but no contact details. Seemed fully grown. He's with Medivet Lordship Lane. No microchip. They're going to contact Southwark dog warden.
