As a developer I can't help but hate IE, it's not web standards compliant, though it's improved a bit on that, it's just so many legacy products and cowboys out there develop specifically for IE, and it doesn't work on anything else.

Plus firefox has the utterly invaluable firebug. If you're not going to use (the millions of really useful) firefox extensions then I don't see it has anything much over IE7.

If you browse the web a bit, do the forum, go to ebay and read the beeb then I don't see the problem with the more recent IEs. Is there anything compelling to go for it? Not really except if you're on 7 you'll suddenly find your OS has upgraded without telling you, so you'll have no choice, and that's a bit annoying.

Mind you Google are going the same way and now have this irritating installer thing that keeps trying to foist chrome on you when all you want is google earth.

Mind you Apple do the same frankly.

Safari's nice though and I loved Opera. Give em all a go I say.

Get Firefox.

I've been using it for years. I'm no geek.

The extensions are great.

(I spent Thursday in some corporate HQ with people struggling with a new version install of IE. Thing is with MS, they take a an interface that loads of people know, then throw it away and start again.)

Yep agreed. Stick with IE7 for now, until they bring out at least a couple of decent patches. I actually have never used Firefox but might give it a whirl.

Mockney - You know you can download the old GUI for Office 2007. I can't stand the ribbon menu's but found a natty little tool to convert it all back. And who said change was a good thing?

I really appreciate all the advice folks.

"If it ain't broke don't fix it" seems to work for me so I shall refrain from uploading it for now.

I am not a techie and don't even understand what ICBM means.

TLA is just about the only TLA I understand. Let alone FLAs...

InterContinental Ballistic Missile - i'm not too sure why you want to get involved in any of that, pretty dangerous stuff.

Got a message back within a day to say medication ordered from chemist.

    • Oh give it a break.  We have an MP who makes racist comments, yet our media (and what seems like this Forum) that generally hate Labour (and loved Johnson) are just out looking for the dirt. It's a move on, nothing to see here.  Particularly if she used a letting agency.
