I rarely use the no 12 bus and it will be a while before I use it again. I am quite affected by the shooting yesterday, but only because I have children. I was playing with my daughter on the rye Sunday midday and trying to get her to ride her bike for the first time without stabilisers. We walked back up Friern Road at about 12.30, obviously not far off the time and location of the shooting.

I'm going to stay clear of the peckham rye end of ED for a while and that includes the no 12 bus.

Why not go the whole hog and barricade yourself in your house? It's the only way to be sure.

Hi Mick - although I do sympathise - had I gone to the Herne for a quick drink before Sunday lunch I might have been passing by as the shooting happened, but you simply cannot let these things affect you and your life. I was mugged at Elephant and Castle and although I was very shaken, I knew I had to continue using the buses and the tube in that area. If violence affects our lives then the perpetrators of such violence are winning the fight against decent behaviour.

By saying you're going to stop going to that part of ED for a while you're making a change to your life as a direct result of these events. Exactly what these criminals are hoping to achieve! I actually live very close by and although the news has shocked me, I have no intention of changing the way I live.

Jeez don't knock a guy for being shaken by someone being executed by a single bullet to the back of their head in proximity to their neighbourhood !! Especially when

People take things different ways and react how they feel like reacting.

We all know what we SHOULD do for crissakes. As for the perpetrators I don't think they're trying to scare people from the neighbourhood, they were more focussed on taking that poor guy out. There's no battle going on for the streets !

    • I've looked up previous media coverage and gather that the school warned pupils of the risk of police 'fines' for assembly under the extant Covid regulations.  Don't you think they might have felt it a duty, to both pupils and parents, to do so?
    • I'm glad that Barry's have posted.  Their mention of the merger soon led me to (a) bushy-tailed  PR guff about the new member joining the inpost 'family' and promising a bright happy world of lockers etc ahead. and (b) clear signs that the same problems related here seem to have been current and widespread even three months ago.  That's just from looking at one thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/vinted/comments/1nlv3u2/yodelinpost_merger_issues/

    • Do we still get 50+ outdoor community events per year? All the ones round here seem to have been cancelled, like the Christmas Cracker and the summer equivalent and the Small Business Saturday event etc.  Even on the Southwark Presents page the only events in East Dulwich in the foreseeable future are non-council events organised by other people. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/southwark-presents?event_price=All&localgov_event_locality[0]=239&date_min=&date_max=&search=&page=2
