It was a race run at a strong enough pace, and that was exactly what SOLWHIT required as he won his fifth Grade 1 race in nine months and put himself forward as the most likely winner of the Champion Hurdle.

This race was run at more of a Cheltenham pace than any other he has contested this season. He travelled well and jumped as fluently as he ever has, perhaps hit a flat spot for a few strides after the second-last, but really picked up well after a good jump at the last, putting distance between himself and some good horses.

Everything suggests the particular test of 2m around Cheltenham in the Champion will suit him better than most, and in addition the way his jumping has improved this season takes away the one potential flaw he has. He looks likely to take some beating in March.

Don't think I didn't see your comment on his page :)

Arkle tomorrow

The betting suggested that Nicky Henderson was going to collect a third win in this race from five renewals as RIVERSIDE THEATRE was well backed by punters. He made a good start to his chasing career with a smooth success at Newbury (the runner-up had already franked the form) and followed that up with another accomplished round of jumping. His winning record is impressive and he can make his way to the top if staying healthy. Connections suggested afterwards that he may go to the Arkle in March without another run as he goes well fresh, but they may find something in early February if they felt he needed more experience. His odds are much longer than they should be with some bookmakers for Cheltenham, merely because he does not had the same high profile as others.

    • Hi Merry Christmas no joy with that Paul Hackett email thanks
    • Miss Robson is the last of the old school independent vets. All the chains are have seriously hiked their prices over the last few years which now makes pet ownership only possible for the wealthy few. Even with pet insurance -( which often excludes items or has ‘deductibles’ ) it is just so much money. A visit with some medication is often £150 - £200. The vets themselves are excellent.
    • Awful. A Google search came up with this, but will he check his office email over Christmas? Maybe worth also contacting local councillor? 'To contact Southern Housing's CEO, Paul Hackett, you can try his direct email, [email protected], or use the general contact email [email protected], as well as calling their main number, 0300 303 1066, for general inquiries or to be directed to the executive level.' Also, from the website: https://www.southernhousing.org.uk/latest-news/2025/contacting-us-over-the-festive-period   'Contacting us about an emergency? If you have an emergency outside of the above times over the festive period, such as severe flooding, an uncontainable leak, gas leak, complete electrical failure or lift breakdown, please call us on 0300 303 1066' I hope it is sorted out soon.
