Sorry but who's a 'blow-in?'

I'm a Londoner born and bred and my Father grew up in Norwood.

If you call me a 'blow-in' because I've lived here four years and moved from Notting-Hill (where I was born and lived for 50 years) because I was priced out of the area then fine...I guess I am a blow-in.

I must confess if I won the lottery I'd move back to W11 in a heartbeat-Its much less up its arse in many ways.

and weirdly less smug

It seems you can't help yourself being spiteful for no apparent reason, there really is no need.

I've had enough of Louisa's unfriendly comments, it's not what the forum's about, it should be a friendly place and her comments are sniping remarks which are unwanted. I've constrained her to the Lounge so other users in the other sections are free to talk without the constant blow-in/class comments.

Because she's not done anything that deserves a total ban, the Lounge is a more libertarian area where people tolerate her more. I'm just trying to keep the place friendly and welcoming, of course there's going to be disagreements and discussion in the General ED issues/gossip section but repetitive put downs are simply off putting to most. I don't want that any more.

Thank god for that.

A moment to regret Louisa -- who although cranky, and contrary, and reliably (predictably) opinionated, also posted with wit. I never thought that she made the Forum's tone unfriendly. But then again, she never swivelled to bring me into the crosshairs of her gunsight. *** Those who exasperate most often bring most to the discussion. That's how I'll remember Louisa... and I hope that she will return.

    • Some suggestions for mandatory action might include:- 1. Permit retailers to display facial images on the premises  of previous offenders at their local store. 2. Sound an alert and display images on screens inside the store when the FR flags up a person entering who is on the national database of shoplifters. 3. Physically bar recognised shoplifters from the premises. Should they attempt to force entry then charges should be pressed under aggravated trespass, which  a criminal offence under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. 4. Change the law to allow retailers to have enhanced powers of citizens arrest. What would you suggest? The UK seems to have the most lenient policy towards shoplifting , probably because of other demands on the police force. On the plus side, they may have more time for it now that non-crime hate incidents will no longer be investigated. Other countries, such as the USA have much more sever punishment as does Singapore where repeat offenders or aggravated cases can be sentenced to up to 3 years in prison, a fine, or both.
    • No, we'd have to be in a police state.  You'd have to get this made law.  Unless it is in Reform's policies.  I'll check. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/live-facial-recognition-technology-to-catch-high-harm-offenders Not government policy
