bignumber5
On the face of it, it seemed a bit mickey mouse, but something to do with looking at her various friends addresses and spotting her near the shops, or something. Like I say, not 100% plausible and the logistics don't quite add up, but worth considering the implications of if one had less honest intentions and were able to visualise any location from their laptop.I'm not entirely sure that I see the intended point of it. I suppose it could be useful for planning a difficlut journey (what that awkward junction looks like etc) but otherwise, it seems fairly unnecessary. Ted Max
Massive amounts of advertising, BN5. Especially on mobile. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/5688-google-streetview-has-arrived-in-the-uk/page/3/#findComment-184693 Share on other sites
SeanMacGabhann
possibly true at present - but you can't deny the wow factor for many - plus it is a stepping stone. To what, I'm not entirely sure. But at some point in the future when we are able to, oooh I dunno, instantly transport anywhere in the world, you can imagine how people will look back and go "yeah that was kind of where we realised we could "be" anywhere else"I'm probably talking bollox at this point - clearly Ted Max has a more realistic take Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/5688-google-streetview-has-arrived-in-the-uk/page/3/#findComment-184694 Share on other sites
bigbadwolf
You took the words right off my keyboard Sean and yes you're talking bollox. I also saw a hint of a repressed Star Trek fan in your last post Sean, am I right? SeanMacGabhann
a lapsed ST fan maybe BBW. I don't bother with much sci-fi these days but I'm sure my early teenage years and reading habits of the time played a part!(I'm still not giving up on that possibilty tho!) bigbadwolf
No harm in it Sean. Councillor Troi used to give me a twitch in my teenage years that provided plenty of 'encouragement'.Hope this helps jog your memory of the bald man.http://www.myspacefrog.com/view.php?id=1883 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/5688-google-streetview-has-arrived-in-the-uk/page/3/#findComment-184700 Share on other sites

SeanMacGabhann
Troi? - pah! You youngsters. It was Classic Star Trek TM in my house!Back to the google thingy. One of the things I love about travel is the exploration upon arrival - I can see this taking a bit of that away. On the plus side, when booking a hotel you can check out the area. That can only be a good thing can't it?I just checked my hometown - looks like it will be a while before it gets there Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/5688-google-streetview-has-arrived-in-the-uk/page/3/#findComment-184702 Share on other sites

mockney piers
That got me thinking, and here is where I was born in Virgen D'Iciar just between El Plantio (where Becks lived) and Majadahonda; flat in the distance, top right hand corner. That road was a dusty single lane leading to open desert when I left many moons ago. Town of 60,000 down it now!!Franco's funeral cortege went down it on the way to Valle de los Ca?dos. Dad stood among the gawping crowd as it went past and cracked a bottle of champagne open over his hearse. Unlike grandad he wasn't shoved in prison for the privilege, the times they were achanging.View Larger MapCoooooool. bigbadwolf
Last time I checked they didn't have cars or speed limits in Star Wars Moos. Moos
And I don't remember any flats either. And to be honest, Mockers' story about Franco is more interesting than my Star Wars gag. But something about the dusty expanse reminded me of the desert world of Luke Skywalker's childhood, not sure why. Keef
I've only just looked at this, the Camberwell thing makes me laugh.Quite fun looking at the places you lived when at uni and stuff."Passed" a bus on Kirkdale advertising a film in cinemas from August 20th, so dates seem to add up. You can see 2 people through the windows of the CPT, one of whom I think is Candice (formaer manager), but hard to be sure.
