I first went in the uplands 1976,chris was one of my best mates ,i wouldn't have started singing in bands if he hadn't pushed me ,tony was the guest of the Germans for being naughty and can't remember who else ,but there was a gig at the walmer castle and got volunteered by Chris to help out with the singing

I believe you will find that Mel did sing for Shadowfax, but it was only a one off, which I believe was one night at the Newlands Tavern.

After that they has a Welsh guy called Brian that sang for them.

He also got them a gig in Wales, which was at Barry Island, I can't remember the name of the pub, but I know it did happen as I drove them there in a van, and we stayed at one of their houses that night.

How we got there in one piece after the gig I will never know we were all totally smashed that night!

Tony (Churchy) Church is alive and well and lives in Downham.

I just found an old Shads cassette and transferred it to mp3. The track is called Skewiff and it's a decent bit of early 80s power pop/rock.

I can't be bothered to put it on YouTube but if someone else wants to feel free. PM me and I'll send it over

    • In deed.   An hour is optimistic. I'd always use the train/tube, so many options from the slowish Picadilly, quick Heathrow Express and Lizzy line in the middle. In the old days I'd go out to Feltham via Clapham Junction and either get a cab from there or the bus to avoid central London Alternatively 3 hours by bus only Or a couple of hours by bike, I have cycled there a few times including illegally going through the tunnel as it is so bike unfriendly.
