That's kind of a stock response to most dissenting opinions on here isn't it?

'you probably don't even live in ED'

Can I ask why you think anyone in their right mind would take interest in the wrist-slashingly tedious minutiae of a minor London borough if they didn't live there?

Lenk - my point is that if someone is so obviously critical of ED I wonder why they feel they want to live here. This is one a number of threads that "thebeard" has started criticising ED pubs. His points seem to be unsubstantiated and I'm not convined his posts are intended to do anything other than stir things up.

How can someone "love the place, but mostly hate the people?" Are they not one in the same? I find that to be a fascinating predicament to be in. It's nice to walk down the street and think that someone (who doesn't know me) hates me, but loves the broken, cracked pavement I'm walking on. Nice.

Where is the new Sean when you need him?

Best,

-C

What on earth are you talking about?

The place / area has nothing to do with the people.

The social mix has nothing to do with the pavements of buildings.

You?re a fine example of the people who live locally clueless headless in the clouds and or cloud cuckoo land.

Carry on walking on the cracks?

the reason I tore into silverfox yesterday (the irony!) was because he chose a particularly aggressive and insulting post to make as his own.Who knos if it was ill-judged or the start of a minor-career delighting in pissing people off

thebeard on the other hand is fairly trollish - responding just delights him. He isn't the worst - there is a malign intelligence at work and sometimes he reminds me of early-period quids but would you want to spend any time with him??

Anyone who likes to generalise and say that anyone who picks up on the positives in the area is living with their head in the clouds.... well, you wouldn't want to crawl around the inside of their headspace would you?

:o are you insulting all of ED or anyone in particular? I'm certainly not clueless or headless tyvm!

I do have a love hate relationship love the place but mostly hate the people. But that?s true of almost all cities the people are rude aggressive like caged angry animals.

You sound like a typical run-of-the-mill misanthropic sociopath to me. I suggest you find a small desert island and go and live there. You'll be much happier on your own.

Naa possibly not you, but probably 83.56786565% of the rest of the local population.

The mums with buggies probably have the edge as their brain cells are depleted so they park 1/2 way across two parking spaces and moan about the lack of parking in the area.

Then there are the city gents strutting up the road intently heading very importantly home whilst almost knocking over children walking alongside mum and buggy.

Then there?s the chavs with their child killing dogs sat outside the EDT or other quality pubs.

Not sure if the parking attendant 616 lives locally but he rides around with his indicators on one side or the other like a headless chicken looking to ticket anyone with one wheel on the pavement or one inch over a disabled kerb crossing or parked in bus lane at 1 second past 4pm?

But somehow rarely tickets anyone on zigzag lines at crossings.

Too many examples to list.

The secret to living in a society is to rise above the petty trivial annoyances and get on with your life, it's very negative looking at all the things that cause distress and mulling them over all the time. I personally don't like supermarkets, the list of tedious annoyances are endless, but rather than let it get to me I just get on with what I'm doing and don't bother myself about the crap that hacks me off, I have to really syke my self up to go and do the shopping but a bit like work once I'm in there I just get on with it there are a lot worse places to live.

I know this a spelling error and I would not normally comment, but I reckon this a a subconscious reference to Eric Sykes, and anyone who went shopping in the mindset of the sitcom Sykes would have hours of fun.

What with the series of misunderstandings, the almost being arrrsted by the local copper who's also a personal friend and then having to explain all to your sister Hattie when you got back home.

I think you're onto something here MikeCg.

Quids, I can certainly recall you suggesting an early morning meet up at ED station to take care of some regular unpleasantness on one of the trains.

I agreed to join you.

I can't remember who suggested the flaming torches.

But I think you thought better of it, and went on to agitate for every second shop on LL to be turned into a bookies.

Or something like that.

Oh and by the way, the whole 'meeting up at ED station with flaming torches' thing, I'm embarrassed to say it was all talk on my part. Sorry.

Hats off to Mike. Top post.

Rise above it all, life's too short.

I do love how people's misanthropic tendencies really only reflect their personal failings, not society's.

Get out from under your bridge, breath the air, admire a flower, have a pint in the bishop, even the palmerston (but ntv) and kiss a baby in a bugaboo.

Life's ok really....smile, but limit smilies to one :)

    • Nothing to do with the tories overspending whatsoever eh! Blame the last 10/11 years of blatant mismanagement, incompetence and willful deceit on the poor bastards that were left with the fall out of a complete car crash tory government.   One PM after another falling on their sword. Open corruption and piss taking throughout covid and a legacy of huge debt and destruction yet in your view it will be labour's 4 years in power that bankrupts us in 2029.  Another one that must think people are blind and stupid.  Rejoice rejoice. It's a pity he and his fellow clowns were completely annihilated at the ballot box. I mean they were doing so well after all 🙃🙃
    • Where did I say he did a good job? Yup and Corbyn was very close to Len McCluskey and funded by Unite wasn't he...they're all as bad as each other... Labour have to purge their party of the far-left - they're a disaster. Allan Johnson summed it up so well on election night in 2019....
    • Thank you for the detailed advise @trinidad It is definitely damage we are concerned about. I don’t think Evri would agree to pay the bill to fix our gate or letter box if they were to be damaged as a result of their delivery drivers helper. Our doorbell can be heard from outside when rung so we don’t quite believe the aggressive simultaneous door/letter box banging is necessary. It can be quite a shock it is done very aggressively.  I’ll definitely action the steps you’ve kindly provided along with a phone call tomorrow. I do sympathise with the role drivers have and how busy they are, which is why we tried communicating directly with her but sadly we haven’t succeeded
    • What outcome would you like? Disciplinary action? Not to have the driver back? Retraining? I know there is alot of pressure on drivers to deliver within a set day. if he slams the gate, is it evidence he is causing damage, or is the noise a irritant to yourself? You could put a sign up or buy a signing asking to close the gate gentle???? can you hear the door bell from the door? he might be ringing, not hearing and therefore knocking. In trhe notes section of the be livery page, there is a note section, although there is not 100 per cent these notes would be read as these drivers are constantly rushing.  I did a google search for you, i found this and you can try the envri website Contact Us | Evri   To complain to Evri, you can follow these steps: Contact Customer Service: Call Evri's customer service at 0330 808 5456 for assistance with your complaint.    1 Write a Letter: Address your complaint to Capitol House, 1 Capitol Close, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS27 0WH.    1 Use the Official Website: Visit the Evri complaints page on their official website for detailed instructions on how to submit a complaint.    2 Email or Call for Specific Issues: For issues like missing or damaged parcels, you can email or call 0800 988 8888, which is free to call.    1 These methods will help you effectively communicate your concerns to Evri.   My driver is called anthony, he is brilliant to be honest. I cant fault him.
