Well have you ever found a deal that screams "buy me", "yes yes yes"

Mine was 2005 ashes tickets. My Business partner had been looking out for Ashes tickets, around January time. The only ones he found were being sold by Surrey CC for the last day at the oval, the end of the series, for a tenner each. We mulled and thought it through, if it was all over we would be refunded our money. If it was a "dead rubber", we could round up various nephews, God children and take them to see Shane Warne, Gilchrist, Mcgrath, et al, a great day out. OR we would get to see the deciding days play. Well we know what happened and I got Very, very, very drunk (and offered ?500.00 each for my 6 tickets).

What was yours?

P.S In the haze I seem to remember the Hammers beat Villa 4-0 that evening- happy dayz

YES!

A proper, no-brainer punt, which sounded so 'too good to be true' that I didn't do it.

It started with a tip-off from my brother: a free $1000-dollar bet from 'Mansion' for the Pittsburgh Steelers to beat the Miami Dolphins in the 2006 'Bowl opener. If the Steelers win, you win $1000. If they lose: full refund of your stake. In addition, the Steelers were the favourites by a long chalk. Can't get any more no-brainer than that.

The Steelers duly won.

At least I know I'm not a betting man now.

I remember back in about 1994 someone on the radio talking about their winner predictions for about 7 "Oscar" categories. They then closed it by saying "Go and put an accumulator bet on these and you'll thank me for it next week." The payback being something like ?5000 for a ?1 bet.

Now, other than a raffle ticket I never gamble, but on that day I thought, "why not" so duly trotted off, looking for a bookies. Could I as hell find one to take the bet on? Not one would, from the big ones to the local ones.

The next week he was ecstatic, was not however....I still have the tenner burning a hole in my pocket, so if anyone has a 5000/1 dead cert tip they'd like to pass on....

Well Done!..I thought that by drip feeding on a monthly basis I wouldn't expose myself too much to any market volatility...will keep an eye on the May-Sept scenario though, thanks for the tip...(tu)

Betfair had a totally free ?5 bet on the National. ?35 if either of the two favourites won - ?10 on the rest of the field. Won ?10 and put that on Man U to beat Middlesboro last week - they had that at around 2-1 - all no brainers - will see how far I can make the free bet go

Big interview with Zola tomorrow on Football Focus

    • What a bunch of pieholes. 2025 and you peasants have nothing to be grateful for. I have been inside the library recently and honestly the old girl is crying for a facelift, the goddamn carpet looks like it survived the world war and some. The Library is one of the oldest in Southwark and you are crying about a study place? What a bunch of bullshit. You have libraries all around you for your kids to go their studying you rotten sausage. How about be happy that the library is going to look absolutely stunning rather than be a whining bitch about it   Also, I have been told that the staffs have to work in the smaller libraries together. How do you think they feel?
    • I would like to recommend Aaron, who has just finished 5 days plastering work in my house. He is professional , polite, tidy, punctual and reliable. He did a fantastic job, a good price and a top quality finish. Highly recommended! Aaron Manser 07773 410661
    • Sadly, but not unreasonably, councils find it difficult to justify such expenditure on their current budgets. My family, which does like fireworks have been enjoying the displays by those still with disposable wealth by viewing them from Hilly Fields. Other hills (Dawson Heights) are available. For children who have autumn and winter birthdays, a firework display is some consolation for their birthday climate. My grandchildren, being summer babies, can enjoy garden parties and picnics. Without the need for explosions and dazzling display.
