Awful Sparks.

6 Years of my life down the drain! Well, not really, it was quite a laugh for most of it.

We were also called Wooller, Slingsby and Hubbock before Awful Sparks, all within a year. We were Awful Sparks for 5 of them.

OH! I was also in a progressive electronica/drone/glitch/hip-hop/dance/rave/trip-hop/breakbeat/etc/etc/etc/etc outfit in Bath called Black Hole Projector. Three members, multiple instruments. There was THE Black Hole Projector, Rinse Agent and me, Intercontinental Beat Master (ICBM). I played keyboard, drums and drum machines. Good times. I think I was 18 and high for most of that. Not many memories.

Ok

My first band was called "Vin Blanic" Yes you read right! "vin Blanic" The name came about when our guitarist at the time miss read the famous wine Vin Blanc.

Ive also been in a band at Uni called A'Vague experience. Which kind of speaks for it self.

And KEEFY how could you forget "Immunity" Enough said on that one.

I too was in a band called DTA. I wrote the theme track called Dont trust anyone, which was promptly put on the back burner never to return!!! Dont trust anyone indeed! (6) >:D<

Im now in a band called "Keef and Dems" Who maybe appearing in a pub near you soon! :)-D

Shit Guinness is basically when you order Guinness somewhere quite posh that outsells anything on tap with wine, champagne and cocktails hands down. Basically, the lines never get cleaned and you're drinking wrought iron. My girlfriend used to work in a restaurant in Hoxton (Bacchus http://www.toptable.co.uk/details.cfm/qs/rid%7C3523/spos%7C1/) that was pretty lush - a pub refurbish, no less(how lordship lane).

But, as they were named after the god of wine, they didn't really shift much of the Grolsch, Staropramen, Hoegaarden or Guinness they had on tap.

One of my favourite memories was a late-in-the-month Sunday opening geared towards emptying the barrels so they didn't get charged by the suppliers for returning three quarter full barrels (it was ?1.70 a pint as far as I remember - cheaper than the Saint Martins College bar no less!). I got a Guinness, took it to my table and had a sip. Nuno, the head chef snatched it away from me;

"What's your favourite lager?",

"Umm I usually drink Carlsberg",

"Have a Grolsch, we have shit Guinness",

Don't let it put you off the restaurant though, it's really very good. I hear the tasting menu is great.

i was in a student band called 'Jimmy and the Thundercats' and ironically we did actually have someone called james in the band and managed to get a projector with the red logo to project out from the back of the stage, seemed quite funny at the time.

    • Unfortunately Nissan was a disaster of a company when it created your car and still is, and most recently created another combined disaster alliance with Renault. Be aware, the trade value on your car is really low as no one wants to do the work & it's often only when it reaches near scrap value that someone (else) is willing to invest (their money) to try and fix. So if you're willing to front the money and fix your car that (you know) then that is most likely your best option (also understanding that it is outrageous that you should have to replace a CVT gearbox after 50K). If that isn't appealing consider a new Skoda Fabia 1.0 (Auto) on finance if you can't afford cash, it will last 20yrs.... (and avoid cars from the Stellantis group)
    • If you are referring to me, I was using my mobile. Just quoting the post I was replying to would have made no sense without showing my original post as well. I wouldn't have been able to do that on a "real PC" either, assuming I carried one around with me everywhere. It's nothing to do with what I'm using, it's the way the forum is set up to quote posts. I did insert a screenshot showing the keyboard by mistake.
    • You have to book for the Sunday roasts in advance. I have bad memories of once going for a circular  walk around Downe and then trying to eat. The Queens Head staff (and customers)  looked at us as if we were mad for attempting to get a meal without booking. The other pub in the village  reeked of bleach.  We had to  drive around in search of a meal, and ended up at some large pub whose name and location  I have thankfully forgotten. All I remember is the food, which was truly awful.
