It's contagious, and it's official (aka Tiny Little Things That Cause You Irrational Joy)

Ignorant posh sunbathers in various local parks (especially goose green), who take up an entire space with their offspring shouting loudly and giving me a headache every time I walk across that footpath.

Louisa.

The certain knowledge that the doc and quids are circling, like sharks...poised and ready to go in for the kill.

Patient and waiting. But will maxxi or LM swoop from the sidelines in a cruel twist of fate and claim that glittering prize?

Only time will tell...

Answering the phone to a "I understand you were involved in an accident that wasn't your fault" caller, which gives me the chance to reply "Oh you mean the one I died in"

The joy of the long pause before the phone going dead, is immeasurable

Ah, thank you, another arrow in the quiver. My tried and trusted has been "Oh my God, was I? Have I been hurt?"

Have you come across the one on the mainline platform at Blackfriars? Less announcement, more a sustained commentary on life. Can only imagine he uses the daytime job to practice for the comedy circuit.

Two subjects currently making me chuckle, for different reasons - both in Businesses section "Continuous Banister" which I read as "Continuous Barrister" and the other "Pipes groan after toilet flush - plumber needed" - does the OP need plumber or a doctor...

Walking over Goose Green this afternoon and seeing the children playing in the two huge heaps of fallen leaves, one at each end of the green.

And the other morning seeing out of the kitchen window at least eight sparrows all having a bath together in a bowl of water on a table in my garden.

The last couple of weeks the robins around here seem to have become more active again, or perhaps just more visible as the summer birds leave. A robin singing in a tree is a huge joy.

I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
