... following on from my post last week regarding excellent service from the recycling men...

This morning my day was made by said recycling man knocking on the door, giving me a hug, and thanking me - I sent an email praising him to the recycling email on the Southwark website, it was passed to his boss, and he apparently got a bit pat on the back. Big time feel good factor :)

having a (not very bad) cold, but not having to drag yourself to work feeling rough...

cos you've got the day off... http://blogs.pomona.edu/grmt134-2009s/files/2009/03/antijapanesepropagandatakedayoff.gif

silence...

ref the google banner... though i was on the 'rage' thread for a moment there Brendan... don't tell me you like the horrid little packman banner... IMO it's just more of tacky invasive noise pollution!!!

It was actually an imbedded game. Who can?t love packman?

And if the oft used video game analogy is correct it is responsible for an entire generation people spending they youth sitting in dark rooms and eating pills.

no, don't want to have to tune off sound... 'cos I am probably playing last fm or spotify at the same time and dealing with work stuff. online research etc... gggrrr should be in the other thread!!!
.....relaxing at home with the radio playing in the background, the birds singing noisily outside, reading a good book, some lovely coffee and the anticipation of having more free time and going away to a wedding where I will be reunited with friends I haven't seen for a while. Yay!

    • I suppose we are lucky that our daughters both drive so do not have alcohol when they are with us.  I start my Christmas food shopping in October, when prices are generally lower. Turkey Crown from Iceland, gammon from Sainsbury's, get put into freezer as do any other bits and pieces i.e. prawns/seafood. Fruit and veg from Aldi nearer the time,. Having 3 vegetarians plus a gluten intolerant, I make much of the other food stuff including desserts. Aldi's version of Baileys is half the price, plus beers and ciders are good value. Neither of us are wine drinkers We generally have fish or vegetarian based food from Marks plus a dessert, I suppose I have always been a careful shopper - I was a single parent for many years where all my wages went to paying the mortgage leaving around £10 a week for food and other bills. My work colleagues used to mock me when I said that a chicken would last us all the week ending up boiling up bones to make a soup base. Old habits die hard even when you have a bit more in your pocket to spend.
    • How on earth can someone like this be allowed to continue as a solicitor? Can't he just be struck off, or the equivalent?
    • There are no road works in front of Cod fellas and yesterday when I requested a stop there the driver went straight past and never stopped untill Avondale Riss. As cars have to stop because of the lights why can busses not do this? 1 minute Bloodly mindedness.
