Blimey, sounds like Admin must be pretty busy.

All I'm saying Sean is that I have come to realise that manipulation of language is the most powerful means of controlling the minds of individuals. We should maintain through the use of many control measures, including the falsification of the past, streams of constant propaganda. However, I am an advocate that the most powerful and central method of control is not just the ongoing manipulation of language itst also the thought process of doublethink. Although the other systems mentioned are effective in identifying, converting and eliminating heretics, doublethink brings on an era where they will no longer be necessary, at least not to such an extent, as heretics cannot exist in a world where unorthodox thought and speech is not possible. By the purging the English language of unorthodox words and double meaning and controlling the minds of their people through doublethink, the EDF and others will be able to create a world in the near future in which it will be literally impossible to express or even imagine an unorthodox thought.

BBW was a heretic in my view, an unorthodox heretic at that.

Now I'm 55 I have, FINALLY, come to the realisation that the "System" is everything and I pledge my future to the "System".

My days of rebellion are over, I have reached contentment and ultimate fulfillment by obeying the System.

Reverted to using others work and passing it off as your own again Tony?

You have sold out TLS, and have been stuffed into the conformist mould, we mellow as we mature, but to give up I'd rather lay down and die R.I.P Zombie.

I trust you have revised your opinion after some reflection, about our maverick BBW?

    • Not sure what you mean by "involved with firework enjoyment"? I'm all for others enjoying themselves, and I like fireworks, but if they were limited to public displays then people could still enjoy them? Having said that, I see that tickets for the London New Year fireworks start at £20 (Dawson's Heights it is,  then!) The fireworks in Brockwell Park used to be free. I don't know why those don't happen any more?
    • Really interesting discussion here. It's difficult to respect the views of people who support Farage, Trump, Musk etc. Why should we, when their views are deplorable. But then that exact 'deplorable' label, as we know, is counterproductive and drives people to double down / switch off to more progressive views. How do you actually help change minds? We're currently spiralling into dark places culturally and politically imo. The amount of open racism, even amongst front line politicians here and in the US is astounding to me. Feels like we're going backwards. The influence of social media and the tech billionaires / bros, is a powerful and largely malignant one. There was an enlightening (and frightening) bit of journalism by Sky this week about Musk's influence on British politics. He has a strange obsession with the UK and London in particular (as do many on the US right wing): https://news.sky.com/story/the-x-effect-how-elon-musk-is-boosting-the-british-right-13464487
    • Looking for any tickets to the Dulwich Hamlets game against St Albans today!
    • I'm going to Paris with friends, staying in the 3rd arrondissement. I used to go a lot but that was ages ago so wondered if anyone has any 'insider tips'? We are interested in small art galleries, independent shops, good value cafes and restaurants that may not feature in all the many online articles or guides, thanks!
