I know, not a limerick, but i loved this contribution from a bored spectator at lords on the Guardian obo (tsk, bloody blackberries eh)

Oh look a streaker. At least that's bloody something

I've been watching these fools bat since 10 in the morning

My beer's getting flat in its clear plastic chalice

While the batsmen block-out and the bowlers lack malice

Last night on the telly they suggested I come

Down to Lords for the 5th day. They said it'd be fun

Well Botham and Boycott can both bloody lump it

Coz of their great advice I'm now down 20 quid

They said there'd be boundaries and wickets and runs

But today all I've seen is some stranger's bare bum

Nice Verse.

Did you know, my fellow limerickers, that apparently, as part of the Dulwich festival, there was a talk about maths and poetry and the links between. I heard that one of the esteemed (and local) talkers quoted the moxons/hoxton/foxtons limerick from this ere forum. Which is equally nice.

    • I'm becoming a semi regular because of all this! Ambiance is lovely, can't fault the food, they allow us to have a dish each and a drink, or dessert and drink, no pressure to have loads...
    • And that depression will get deeper if the cost of debt servicing increases. Lack of clear fiscal strategy means uncertainty in the financial market. This results in markets demanding greater interest rates for new gilt sales. This in turn leads to increasing costs of debt servicing. Unless drastic austerity measures are taken , it becomes a doom loop. Recovery cant be done with more taxes. Major spending cuts have to be made now. That means cuts of around £100 bn per year. Painful? Yes, most certainly, but absolutely necessary.
    • We are already in a depression, not a recession.
    • First, the US Dollar is a reserve currency. Secondly, the 1930's depression was a 100 years ago and was caused by several factors including excess borrowing to fund stock market speculation. When Harold Wilson had to go begging to the IMF to bail out the economy, the IMF lent the money but imposed various austerity measures. If the UK has to go cap in hand to the IMF again, then rest assured the IMF will stipulate  changes which equate to austerity.   this is the IMF's standard terms. Just look at Argentina. Take the pain to get the gain!
