taper, perhaps the bar person got their sums wrong on this round, or you are mistaken (misinterpreted)?

This breaks down as a large shandy costing ?1.25, a rum and coke, ?1.25 with a pint at ?2.65 (or any combination thereof),

this pub is in Grove Vale, not 1980?

Brian and Glyn...weren't they in the series Teachers?

I had a great evening out on the lane, hope everyone else had a good Wednesday evening too. I had a great time checking out mid week offerings of the pubs in ED. It was a surprisingly miserable evening and the football was on, we started by taking shelter from the rain in The Vale which was totally lacking in atmosphere, such an uncomfortable place to be especially when it?ss damp and cold outside and a tantalizingly short trot to the bright lights of the lane. The beer is relatively cheap in there but a bit too flat for me and at nearly ?3.00 for a pint and some rather dubious clientele to boot it seemed to offer very little in the way of value for money. We then headed down to the EDT and although the beer is better, the staff were extremely busy dealing with the overload of rowdy Man U supporters and we soon gave up the wait and moved on. So infuriating. Next stop was The Bishop. The football was being screened at the back end of the bar with the sound turned down so as not to detract from the general atmosphere which was great. I must say I don?t really head down that way much but I had an excellent time. I saw the match whilst enjoying a decent conversation with my friends and then we headed out into the back yard for a fag and a chat with Clarence. I read somewhere that there was a new chef there (or am I confusing it with The Vale?). Anyway, it was excellent, I had the steak burger and my veggie Aussie friend had the aubergine burger, both of which were top notch and very reasonably priced. It really was fantastic. The staff were so friendly, it was busy but not once did I feel crushed or devalued. I will certainly head down there more often. Roll on the next mid week evening out!

Yeah if you had said.....

"Had lunch at the Wimpy & it was crap" then we would have believed you, as for the ol' cheaper down the road ruse ,well a curry is cheap in Bombay but who flies there on a Friday night after the pub shuts........

Get your script read over first will ya'

Should have bought, 'a large lager shandy, a rum and coke, and a pint of brilliantly kept bitter'

    • Another recommendation for Niko. Great communication, top guy, and super reliable and skilled - all at a fair price. Takes a lot of care in what he does and talks you through everything.
    • Some foxes are very tame. The foxes that live near the electricity sub-station thing on the corner of Calton and Woodwarde will happily walk up to you/passed you. They are some of the best looking foxes around so clearly being well-fed - glorious coats and bushy tails but interested in humans and keen to engage/be fed rather than being scared.
    • Let’s not all get scared of the foxes now. Most likely explanation is protecting its den or association with food. We have foxes, and cats and they are no bother to each other. The fox will leave when the cats are out.
    • I remember seeing something a few years ago on TV about a fox that was actually biting through people's shopping / takeaway food bags.  It was situated in an alleyway.  Not in London.  Very interesting in how the  urban foxes brain development has  been affected by their surroundings.   Not an exact quote from Darwin.  It's the adaptable that survive / not the strongest or the most intelligent.   I would be worried if a fox came close me.   Because they might be after my fur babies and they carry a lot of nasties.   Although they look beautiful from a distance or on a 🎄 card.
