Claire that is a great idea.Il pm you and we can discuss the details.Il email the cloth bag company and let them know the updates, and roughly how many bags,im thinking 2000 what do you think guys.

Only chav this thread is meant only for cloth bag discussion,so could you please start your own thanks

Claire and Monica - this sounds very exciting! With a school competition we could get a nice photo in the paper and some really lovely publicity for the bag and for the forum.

I have no artistic talent but if anyone would like help with the other practical stuff- publicity, fundraising application, etc, then please pm me.

Great idea! I would be happy to ring around some local primary schools and see if they would be interested in participating in a competition. Its the sort of thing schools should love as it raises environmental issues for the children in a fun way. Is it something that it would be easier to restrict to one school (for practicality) - if so, Clare can put it to her school before I ask any others. What do you think? Happy to go with the general consensus.

Hello again,

July 16th is ages away .... two months! We can contact schools and still get our application in in that time if we pull together.

An application won't need everything wrapped up - indeed the very opposite is true, funders will want to be able to say their money helped the schools run the competition (in an indirect way).

I had a look at the application online - it's a borough wide one so it is highly unlikely that we could get an extension - but it's pretty straightforward and by putting names of schools down as parners and beneficiaries I think we will be in a really really strong position.

I think this is quite exciting!

I'll volunteer to add it to the agenda for the next WI meeting. You guys seem to have the plans well wrapped up, but I'm sure the EDWI would be interested. What sort of areas would you need assistance in that I could suggest at the WI meeting for discussion?

Elizabeth

B Belle has PM'ed me and we are going to contact the primaries between us. I have put together a basic Word document with the proposal and about the Cleaner Greener Scheme in case the schools want something in writing.

Can I just say how lovely it is to read a thread like this and to see how community-spirited people can be. Well done everyone and thanks to the EDForum for bringing everyone together! :))

Update on bags.I spoke to the lovely lady at supreme creations who will email me a quote on the canvas shopper with long handles and the gusset bag with long handles. She explained that the more colours involved the higgher the cost,so il be meeting up with the teachers on edf for chat about the design, the lady has suggested that they can use up to 3 colours and do some shading in.We all know kids love colouring, but if we can set them a challenge on designing a logo using East Dulwich in the logo with a couple of colours, hopefully that will be ok.Unless the teachers here or anyone else have any other suggestions, please post them.As long as the theme is East Dulwich, that is one of the important parts of this whole brilliant project.Any questions?

Just to let everyone know I have had a really positive conversation with the deputy head at Goose Green School. She thought the project fitted really well with the school's current initiative to gain "eco status" and would be really interested in taking part. A couple of other schools I am waiting to hear back from.

Clare - I am not sure which school you teach at but it would be great if you could pm me (or Ko who is also contacting schools)as a teacher putting forward the idea might add weight to the proposal (I felt a bit like a cold caller!).

Hi there

I've spoken to 2 other primary schools who were very enthusiatic and who definitely wanted to be involved (I am waiting to hear back from one other school). Bellenden Belle and myself are contacting 3 primary schools each and I know that one of her schools has also said yes.

B Belle and myself looked at the list of primaries and as there are six schools we thought this would be a manageable number to be involved if we coordinated it properly. Whilst my initial thoughts were that having just a couple of schools involved would be better in practical terms, having spoken to the schools they all sound very enthusiastic about the idea and what a good opportunity it is for the children to gain more environmental awareness - so I think it would be a shame not to involve all six primaries in ED because it would be a lost learning opportunity for those children. :)

What do others think?

    • Where did I say he did a good job? Yup and Corbyn was very close to Len McCluskey and funded by Unite wasn't he...they're all as bad as each other... Labour have to purge their party of the far-left - they're a disaster. Allan Johnson summed it up so well on election night in 2019....
    • Thank you for the detailed advise @trinidad It is definitely damage we are concerned about. I don’t think Evri would agree to pay the bill to fix our gate or letter box if they were to be damaged as a result of their delivery drivers helper. Our doorbell can be heard from outside when rung so we don’t quite believe the aggressive simultaneous door/letter box banging is necessary. It can be quite a shock it is done very aggressively.  I’ll definitely action the steps you’ve kindly provided along with a phone call tomorrow. I do sympathise with the role drivers have and how busy they are, which is why we tried communicating directly with her but sadly we haven’t succeeded
    • What outcome would you like? Disciplinary action? Not to have the driver back? Retraining? I know there is alot of pressure on drivers to deliver within a set day. if he slams the gate, is it evidence he is causing damage, or is the noise a irritant to yourself? You could put a sign up or buy a signing asking to close the gate gentle???? can you hear the door bell from the door? he might be ringing, not hearing and therefore knocking. In trhe notes section of the be livery page, there is a note section, although there is not 100 per cent these notes would be read as these drivers are constantly rushing.  I did a google search for you, i found this and you can try the envri website Contact Us | Evri   To complain to Evri, you can follow these steps: Contact Customer Service: Call Evri's customer service at 0330 808 5456 for assistance with your complaint.    1 Write a Letter: Address your complaint to Capitol House, 1 Capitol Close, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS27 0WH.    1 Use the Official Website: Visit the Evri complaints page on their official website for detailed instructions on how to submit a complaint.    2 Email or Call for Specific Issues: For issues like missing or damaged parcels, you can email or call 0800 988 8888, which is free to call.    1 These methods will help you effectively communicate your concerns to Evri.   My driver is called anthony, he is brilliant to be honest. I cant fault him.
    • When I have more time and energy, I will look up the actual number of votes cast for each party in that election, rather than the number of seats won. I'm interested to see that you apparently  think that  Boris Johnson did a good job of "leading the country through Covid." Is your memory really that short? I won't stoop to calling Johnson and his cronies names in the way that you seem to think is appropriate for left wing politicians. At least the left wing politicians have some semblance of morals and a concern for people who aren't in some over privileged inner circle and/or raking in money for themselves on the back of an epidemic. I'm not going to open a can of worms on here  by commenting on the disgraceful so called "purge".
