Well quite... Ridiculous name (can tell it's offensive without looking it up in a dictionary Loz!), nothing could induce me to go in there. It's like a return to the seventies or something.

Completely agree! I usually have a puerile sense of humour but don't think this is particularly funny or clever.

Wait and see.. They will be packed out.. queuing down the lane to get in...

No one has the gumption to boycott this place despite what they might write here..

.. and why should they. ?

I must admit at first the name went over my head and I never saw the innuendo till mentioned here.

I'm just a bit slow.. :)

DulwichFox

Maybe they're labouring under the impression that East Dulwich is an internationally renowned stag night destination, on a par with Magaluf or Ayia Napa?

I don't mind a bit of smut either usually but this is just spectacularly misjudged. A shame, as I normally like trying new places and the pics look quite nice on Facebook, but I don't think I could bring myself to set foot in somewhere with a name so irredeemably naff.

I do hope it's a wind up...

Agreed, but I was laughing at the poster being offended at the strange definition they had to look up on the net and yet missing the completely obvious just-as-offensive one.

For years there has been the popular and critically acclaimed Meat Liquor in W1.

It's a gag. Hopefully they'll reveal their real name shortly having gotten some good controversial PR.....or

...its a dying throes of hipster movement play ala Death Row Dinners and Cereal Killers Cafe....In the totally wrong family orientated location. Even in Peckham it would jar.

Meat Liquor actually serves Meat and Liquor, so the name works.

I doubt Pussey is on the menu at Pussey Liquor.

This evening I saw Made in Chelsea's glamorous Victoria Baker Harber walking down the Lane. She looked like a nice young woman. And I certainly don't know, but I did wonder if she was going to PL's opening.

I tend to agree with the sentiments given about the name - somehow it doesn't fit with my impression of ED being a considerate community. I certainly don't want to hear children asking what PL means. I don't think ED is prude, just a bit cleverer.

Now I'm no parent (I hate children in pubs, or should I say parents in pubs who feel it's their written right to tell adults how to behave pubs around their children, but that's a different thread) and no feminist but I think it's crass. I do have visions of a parent walking down the street with a child whose just learnt to read calling out every sign they see and say Pussy Liquor and a random bystander starts giggling. How do you go about explaining that one? The fact they know they're being 'risky' makes it all the worse as they know what they are doing by using their name to get everyone talking about them. Which I've done. So I'll stop.

Referring back to Mrs Slocombe, and her pussy, this thread http://www.minki.net/aybsforum/showthread.php?t=4759 gives lots of examples of things I saw and heard as a child which have failed to scar me for life. It's a joke, however funny or not you find it.

When I watch Are You Being Served now it's much funnier!

    • If you’ve got four quid spare, go and try one. Myself, I like the mozzarella and spinach, but there’s no accounting.
    • More of a Steak Bake kinda thing, then.
    • You might want to try the Peckham Facebook community group. I am located in East Dulwich & have 2 well-used scratchers: A large single post (ideal for an adult cat) & a small cat tree with 2 short posts (ideal for kittens) While the wear & tear is nowhere near as bad as the one shown in the link below, ideally the sisal should be replaced to get the best use out of it (& neutralise the scent of another cat) hence why I haven't donated these to a shelter. You may find this link helpful: https://thegreenmadhouse.com/diy/how-to-repair-your-cat-scratcher But you can just get a brand new one between £10-£30 on Amazon that'll last much longer. It all depends on what type of scratcher you're looking for; material, size, vertical or horizontal. Your little lion will let you know by whether they're currently scratching down or up, like a mat or armchair for example. More than happy to send location & leave in front garden for pickup.
    • Would happily take it off your hands! Preferably in Peckham. Thanks 🙏🏻
