painful. just painful. Brave show, some decent opportunities, some taken some not. the bok tries demonstrated that they were the better side, lions heart took them a long way. my MOTM agrees with the official one - I thought Simon Shaw gave it absolutely everything.


Another nail in the coffin for the continuation of the lions tours.

And I can see the whitewash coming...

What did he do in Belfast, I didn't hear or read about it?

I'm with Matt - much better showing than the Woodward effort. I think if you ignore the Woodward NZ tour most games have been very competitive.

Not in the same league at all. What Johnson did was far worse IMO.

O'Gara shook the Queen's hand with one hand in his pocket - when introduced at a royal reception to mark Ireland winning the Grand Slam. O'Gara then proceeded to place both hands in pockets whilst talking with the Queen.


Shocking behaviour. And very relevant to this thread.

One of the Springboks? less endearing but more entertaining idiosyncrasies is that they often start to play dirty when things aren?t going quite how they want them.


Not one of their finer features unfortunately but like I said, entertaining.


I do hope the Lions don?t get any silly ideas about retribution though. Half of h the poor buggers are already in hospital we don?t want to see the rest of them end up there too.

Sorry declan, there's no comparison. Johnsons actions for which I will despise him for until my dying day was done in the heat of battle, what o'gara did was pure insolence and showed a complete lack of regard and disrespect for a head of state, maybe not his, but certainly of some of his fellow team mates. He is in my eyes a disgrace to his and my nation.

There isn't one iota of evidence that O'Gara deliberately meant to offend HM. They fact that he had his hands in his pockets means what exactly? Remember the fuss when Bush I think actually put his hand on her shoulder. So what, she has a title but don't tell me she isn't human like the rest of us. Johnson did what he did prior to kick off and THAT was obviously deliberate. Shame my u tube clip didn't generate any mirth which goes to show how bloody seriously you take something that isn't.

Martin Johnson lined the England team up where the Irish always stand in Dublin - instead of Ireland lining up in Away position, O'Driscall matched them down to the left of England but where the red carpet did not extend. This meant the female guest of honour had to tred on the rugby field rather than the red carpet when meeting the Irish.. it was a bit of a fiasco!

      Comparing to Week 11 last season, the table is a lot more compact, even the distance between top and bottom is half of what it was when RC was a runaway leader on 90+ points. Also worth remembering there are 25 or so game weeks left, so any points difference can slowly be eroded away. Week 11 points...   Week 11 table....

      Some people don’t like it, some people will love it.  It doesn’t bother me at all. In fact I quite like it. I do not like assumptions you make about ‘elderly people’.

      This concerns me as it essentially disregards the significant number of people who do experience a high level of disruption because of the event.  While it's great that you personally are not inconvenienced, this is absolutely not the case for a great many residents many of whom are elderly or who do not have private gardens and rely on the park.   Great that you have a PHD in ecology but might also be worth reading the report into the environmental impact of Gala which paints a rather different story to yours. This comes round every year with a request to extend. This seems to me to be a distraction to steer everyone away from the main event. However, Southwark Council and Councillor Catherine Rose in particular must bear responsibility for what is effectively privatisation of our community space.  I requested data on the results of the last consultations and had to use a subject access request to get it.  In 2024 the council received 111 responses of which 108 were negative. The event went ahead. Last year they received 136 of which 82 were negative and 34 said only with major changes (which did not happen).   The impact of the event on the community and the enviroment is well-documented.  The council has so far refused to supply data on the demographics of the attendees but it doesn't take much to work out that this is largely single under 30s from out of borough judging by the steady stream of people from the station.   Please do take time to protest and also to email Events as we try to hold the council accountable for their disregard of the public consultation results.
