david_carnell
Trott looking assured.... For now. We need more saffas in the team clearly. A cunning ploy. Keef
I know we're not doing badly, but there are too many weak links in this team batting wise! Fingers crossed Flintoff can stay in for a while! Peckhamgatecrasher
Spoke too soon, eh?[i witnessed Botham's last ever game at the Oval. He was out for 11 (I think) but I've never seen a standing ovation like it or so many grown men cry!] Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6921-the-ashes-2009/page/20/#findComment-240149 Share on other sites
mockney piers
I saw Alec Stewart's last ever innings at the oval too (plus it was home turf) and that was a very emotional ovation that he received. It didn't hurt that I was a guest of Graham Beck's so the wine flowed quite literally freely all afternoon. Thank you brother mine for falling ill that afternoon and sending me in your stead!Surely even Eng 'from the jaws of victory' land can't lose the ashes from this position. mockney piers
I gather the average fourth innings totalat the oval is 141. For what it's worth. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6921-the-ashes-2009/page/20/#findComment-240154 Share on other sites
Keef
I saw Shane Warne's last test at Melbourne (there was one more test to go, but this was his home ground), and that was quite the ovation! annaj
Ok, so, cricket's not really my thing, but every man I'm related to in any way loves it, so yesterday I thought I'd try and get to grips with this (amazing what a girl will do instead of studying)So, let me see if I've got this, if we get them all out we've won and the only way they could win is by staying in until the end of Monday, scoring, ummm, 400 and something or if it rained from now til Monday evening. Well, even I'm a bit excited by that!ps - I'm not teasing by the way, I really am exceptionally dim about sports and it took me a good part of yesterday to figure that out. Peckhamgatecrasher
Welcome Annaj. Australia need 436 to win, which is theoretically possible, but if the opening play today is anything to go by, we will have won.[Please gods, no Nemesis.] Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6921-the-ashes-2009/page/20/#findComment-240319 Share on other sites
