Dear All - Please try Radio FIP (French state run) it has the most amazing selection of music. You can either listen over the internet or download a file which then plays it through iTunes.

I love most types of music, and they are all played there, best of all, very little 'chat' and no adverts.

In light of Honaloochie's comments re: Jono Coleman I did a quick search before starting a thread and was thrilled to be reminded that the lovely Bellenden Belle shares the hate

"I am only relieved that Jono Coleman has left the London breakfast show. He was like an overgrown schoolboy - I found myself SCREAMING at the radio...

"

Radio 2 early in the am with Sarah Kennedy.

Radio 4 most of the rest of the day as it is like a talking clock, I know what time of the day it is by whats on.

Radio 3 sometimes for a change.

Radio 7 which is infuriatingly on digital, so you of course need to buy a digital radio to receive it, or sky tv chanels.

Some times catch Vanessa when I'm driving, who is best on radio, I can't stand watching her on tv. She is a cut above the rest of the flotsam on that station.

"Hello lovely listeners" Oh how the hairs on my arms stand up.....oh mmmm.

"Ahem................now where were we" ?

I love radio 4. (Currently mark twain's autobiography, the news quiz, food programme, excess baggage, archers, previously sorry I haven't a clue with humphrey littleton)

Sometimes Classic (without the annoying ads would be even better)

Old comedies on radio 7 (dad's army, steptoe)

Absolute 80s (without the really irritating bits between the cheesy music, can of quattro anyone? Jeez)

I'm lazy with my choices, even hitting favourites on DAB has become a chore. Mainly 5 live, really like The Monday NIght Club but think 'Motty' should stick to what he knows (knew). Annoyingly Colin Murray (Kopite) has grown on me but I've never quite got Fighting Talk, just makes me cringe. Richard Bacon (no known footy affiliation) has the greatest booker in tv and radio, everyday he has great, interesting guests.

Radio 4 is catered for by Review of the Week but is too unashamedly middle class. Some of the comedy is great, some awful.

I often spin over to World Service, randomly some great features and less randomly the greatest phone in footy show anywhere in the UK.

That's about it, dislike commercial, not snobbery just hate the ads. Love music but never really tune in to listen to it.

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
    • And they started long before midnight!
    • First mate - I wondered if I was imagining things at 4.45 this morning . Apparently not .
