From 18-30 was a major part of my life ( i preffered clubbing to seeing bands for eg) but never really liked the corporate super club thing much

I was more of a gigs or dirty rock clubs kinda guy. But I wonder if life is just too expensive now and younger people don't have the spare cash to blow at the weekend?

If they have no cash, they need to be more creative. Went to many impromptu raves !! Health and safety would have a fit at the derelict old buildings and squats we would utilise ....The "Pop Up" phenomena is not new !!

You could only get decent house and garage music by going "underground".

They may well be doing that, I was just commenting on the closures of lots of big clubs (which all probably charged a fortune for a drink).

I went a club a short while back. Derelict warehouse type affair. Plus ca change.

It was rammed with young people enjoying themselves.

I don't know about charging fortunes for a drink, perhaps they don't earn much from drink at all, relying on entrance fees ... a lot of people get tanked up on cheap plonk indoors before they get near a club ....

A lot of the same people but Beat Route was earlier and more deck shoes, 'Flip' type place and relaxed door policy, the Wag was more Zoot Suit more yuppie feel to me, never liked it that much

I arrived in Ldn in early summer '95, spoilt for choice tended to cherry pick 'nights' rather than a club per se.

If I could've been in Ldn at another time it would've been Danny Rampling @ Shoom Club in the late 80's, hard to beat the early days of acieeeeeed... :)

I was a regular at the Round House Old git. But love the Ibiza scene .

Was there 10 years ago but did not go to any Of the clubs.

No, we either keep up with modern music or we stop at a certain point and stick with what we like.

Or a bit of both.

I am miles out of touch with new music. And once upon a time I was a finger on the pulse regular gig goer kinda guy.

ditto RD you have reminded me of some too, the nights rather than the club. We must have crossed paths I'm sure ;-)

There was a fab club in Briston that used to host Lost. Access via an industrial lift. Strangely due to the state of my brain when I was there I can't remember the name of it.
