Silver fox, please post your "Rot a la carte" with shameful pride.

Yours the "Rot master"

I remember from student days buying a turkey in the Pimlico Tesco on Christmas Eve. By Christmas Day morning, it was largely a vile shade of blue and the smell was rank. Probably a combination of Tesco's useless fridges and our own. But no turkey. Can't remember what we had in the end.

There were a few places that did it.

The Lateshopper on Eccy Road used to.

Even Morrison had a basket of them - before they went all hoity-toity in their push southwards.

I was at a funeral wake last week, Mrs W**F introduced me to an old friend ...

"This is Lisa, you know the one who's mum I was telling you about! used to bend her head down and drink straight the wine box in the fridge door!"

I mean what can you say to that " Oh, yes hello" ( but thinking that is "rotten" )

Mind it was on the Isle of Sheppey & she didn't bat an eye lid!

  • 2 months later...

This relates to the Courgette thread, sorry but this is the Rot shop so ....

LOOK AWAY NOW IF EASILY OFFENDED

I saw a while back a courgette with a condom over it, lying by/in a burst bin open bag of cheap vodka empties ect...

Nice "Rot Shop" purchases I thought however, that particular veg has never been in the same place mentally for me, no sir

    • I understand that, but I can't really grasp how it works in practice, but never mind 😵‍💫
    • It's local independent shops supporting one another.
    • Adding my recommendation for Niko too. Found his number on here and he came out at short notice on a busy weeknight to help us with a kitchen sink issue that had flooded our kitchen that day. Really helpful, responsive and went out of his way to fit us in and help us out. Very reasonably priced too - would thoroughly recommend!
    • Looks like it! Though according to the OP, they are "golden, hand-crimped parcels  packed with flavour" 😀 I don't understand. Admittedly my brain is functioning at a very low level at the moment. Does that mean various local shops get together and agree to offer a discount to anyone who shows them a receipt from one of the other ones dated the same day? I can't see what's in it for either of them, unless people shop somewhere they wouldn't otherwise have done just to get the discount. Is it for vaguely  linked things, say cheese from a cheese shop, wine from another shop? Showing my age there.  And then suppose it's always the same shop which people go to second to get the discount? What's in it for the first shop? People go there in order to get the discount in the second shop?
