For or against ?

Chav stamps or body art ?

I mean I am truly fascinated as to what drives people to choose a piece of "art" usally when they're young & believe that in later life you are going to say " Look at this, yeah I still love it" all some 20 years and 2 or 3 wives/husbands later...I just can't see it. Also if you did make that mistake...Fess up, tell us your story,I nearly got my arse tattooed in San Francisco on my first honey moon & boy am I glad I didn't. She's gone and my bum is still as god intended.

For example;

I have just been to 'sco's in Kirkdale, smart young boy/man standing in the cue, viewed port side very respectable ( for the area) but starboard view has a large red english rose tattooed right up his neck to just under his ear. It was a beautifully crafted illustration, but on your neck, forever....Why ?

2. Images of your children on the back plus dates.

3. Silly faux Celtic bands on podgy arms, white shorts/ rebok classics / lynnx effect combo

4. Fat tarts + any tatt's + sovereign kingsize combo

I'm sure there are more , will come back to you.

More acceptable tattoos...

Love Hate on a clenched fist, if you want to pull a member of the opposite sex this can be substituted for Mum Dad

Swallow

Crucifix on the inside of your arm, preferably DIY with a Bic biro, so that you come within an inch of your life from dying of septicemia

Interesting topic. I've always liked to hear peoples opinions on this one...

I'm young & I've always thought of tattoos as being tacky. Many people my age get tattoos (It's becoming a thing to get for your 16th birthday :-S), "mum" or "dad" printed on some part of your body. - Unique.

That I'd definetly call a chav stamp......

After bashing the idea of getting tattoo'd, I now want to get one of my own.

I personally wouldn't get a tattoo - tho' came close once on a drunken 21st run ashore in Singapore.

I have seen some brilliant tattoos on sailors - including the classic and very rare foxhunt - starting on the upper chest with horses, huntsmen and hounds going over one shoulder and down onto the back, which is tattooed as an English country scene with the fox disappearing into the only available cover - the bum crack.

hate to sound like a snob, but they are tacky, esp on women , sorry . Never seen one and thought 'thats nice'. They are better on a man.

I dont know what drives people to do it, apart from trying to look more interesting, there must be some psycology on it somewhere. Look at the Beckhams, whats that all about ?, what and who they trying to convince .

Now this has become more complex than I expected, not so much good vs. bad taste . Tattoo's do seem to be more revealing , a kind of mirror to our soul, for some a little hidden part of our person we choose to flash or expose when the moment is right !

"See i'm not quite what you thought"

...and I'm liking that.

Note*

If I'm seeing "Millwall" tattooed on your inside bottom lip, I'm fairly sure I know what your like already, thank you very much !

Ive got one on my stomach and I absolutely love it.. Unless Im on summer holiday only I see it and I dont regret it a bit..

Some a chav stamps and you can see those people coming a mile off but others can be nice.. Totally personal preference - I would love to get a new one purely because of how it felt getting it done but I dont necessarily want another one on my body so I probably wont..

Beckham's sleeve tattoo isn't really to my taste - but he's a grown man and he knows what he's doing. And he's in a position to do pretty much what he wants, without any repercussions.

But I used to know kids, 18 years old or so, with both sleeves done, huge flesh tunnels in each ear, etc. I always thought it was tragic that these kids are doing things with their bodies which are going to severely limit their options later in life.

None here. I've always assumed that the point of a tattoo was to have a unique mark, so the pick-one-from-the-parlour-book approach sort of defeats that, to my mind. Also, i change my opinion about whether or not i like a jacket every other month after i buy a new one - a permanent mark seems foolish for someone so changeable!

I'm with strawbs. Mine is in a place I'm not likely to share others on a regular occassion. It is something personal to me.

I remember, after advising my parents I would be getting one, my parents thought I was going to go with a typically girlie design like a dolphine and have it worn on me arm. Boy were they surprised when I can out of the room.

I must stress it was not a rebelious teen thing. My parents agreed and my dad even came with me with the search to find a clean, recommended and sensible place.

    • David Attenborough has also done programmes on this amazing relationship.  This is from 2010 but I am sure that there were more recent programmes on the Beeb https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p006ry61 Mummy trees are amazing.
    • Have you considered PIV - positive input ventilation. We retro fitted a Soler & Palau super quiet in-line fan system. This takes cool air from the outside ans is ducted into the loft. It is really quiet and very efficient. It is controlled by a reverse thermostat ie one which shuts the system off when the temperature drops to a set level. We are very pleased with it especially as it costs a fraction of a/c and provides greater flexibility in terms of location of vents and ducting.
    • If you’re into nature or just love trees, this lovely program is worth catching up on https://www.channel5.com/show/the-secret-life-of-trees It’s one of those quietly fascinating watches that leave you thinking about the world a bit differently. I had no idea that trees are connected underground by fungal networks. They use them to share nutrients, water, and even to send signals to each other. They can recognise their kind and give more support to their “relatives” than to other trees nearby. They can also remember things like droughts or pest attacks and change how they respond in the future. No wonder so many cultures and spiritual traditions view trees as sacred. In some belief systems, cutting one down is thought to carry serious karmic consequences. When you learn about how they live, communicate, and support one another, it makes sense. The natural world is far more aware and interconnected than we tend to realise.
    • I installed an all-in-one air conditioning unit at my holiday home since I wasn’t allowed to have an external fan unit outside. It actually works just as well, was easier to fit, and although it’s slightly noisier, it’s a good solution overall. https://www.orionairsales.co.uk/all-in-one-air-conditioning-142-c.asp?srsltid=AfmBOopZSVZj1_utAO-Hr4m5M323nRZru6Zmf1YuT4KP2touJ2OLaruU
