Aggressive behaviour from classic lofts...

Yesterday while walking my young children to school, a smartly dressed middle-aged chap pulled up outside a classic lofts development that we have had on our road for the last year or so, mounting the pavement by a good half a metre in his large vehicle.

When he got out and walked into the property I said to him that he really shouldn't be mounting the pavement like that when parking (especially as he was too busy looking at the house he was presumably inspecting to have noticed if there were children on the path - which they would have been about 5 seconds later) as it's not safe. He then turned around told me to "F*&k off with myself" and continued to hurl abuse at me in front of my 5 and 2 year olds.

Not pleasant at all. I would complain directly to the company, but I think he is actually the boss! I don't think its unreasonable as a pedestrian to expect to be able to walk on the pavement without cars (and vans!) suddenly mounting it rather than parallel parking and given the amounts of comings and goings when building work is being done, there is a much higher chance for incidents with sloppy and rushed driving like this. But I'm not sure what the solution is if you can't even raise the issue without being verbally abused!

Anyways, his behaviour was a terrible advert for the company and now I can't wait for them to finally finish up and move on!

I had some dealings with Classic Lofts when they were working on a neighbouring house, and I also found the boss rude, difficult and unhelpful.

Not the best way to attract new customers, one would have thought!

Another person from the same company was absolutely fine.

If we mention Classic Lofts enough times in this post about Classic Lofts being rude and agressive on Classic Lofts sites then there is a good chance that our mentions of Classic Lofts and the abusive behaviour of Classic Lofts employees on Classic Lofts sites will bring this Classic Lofts thread about Classic Lofts rude and abusive behaviour near the top of any internet searches for Classic Lofts or Lofts companies offering Classic Lofts type services.

With a bit of luck, this will come to the attention of Classic Lofts or Classic Lofts employees which might lead to an improvement in the behaviour of Classic Lofts and Classic Lofts employees on Classic Lofts sites or might lose Classic Lofts some business and force a rethink from the management of Classic Lofts.

Or not.

A classic response to a post about Classic Lofts. Will go straight into my classic posts about lofts folder.

We had a Classic Loft installed several years ago - thankfully it only took 6 weeks. We're happy.

Honoroaky,

What you experienced is clearly anti social behaviour. Please call the Police 101 no emergency number to report this incident. The next person this idiot is angry with might be thumped or worse.

If you're really upset you might want to call a local newspaper.

This is Classic. Lofts.

To be fair they've done three on our road (not ours) and they seem to get them done very quickly.

Classic Lofts were there for what seemed like bloody months doing the loft adjoining mine.

It was incredibly disruptive, sometimes shaking my whole house. I realise that's probably par for the course.

At one point some of their tradespeople came in at, if memory serves, 7.30am on a bank holiday, drilled loudly for about fifteen minutes (presumably to make sure I was properly awake), then went away again.

The party wall surveyor they were using at the time was also, let's say, less than effective judging - for example - by the (lack of) accuracy of his initial written report. I believe they have stopped using him.

And their communication skills were terrible.

Having said all that, I believe my neighbours are happy with the actual work done by Classic Lofts.

Their Web site a awful. Garbage.

Classic Lofts

About Us.

Our Capabilities

= To act like scum and abuse and swear when we like and in response to anyone telling us we have done something.

Our Process

= Abuse anyone and everyone who isn't a customer.

= Avoid paying any tax by taking cash payments from stupid customers.

Our Bottom Line.

= we become rude millionaires charging silly prices and avoiding paying tax sticking two fingers up to everyone from our Spanish holiday villas bought with the cash from our idiot clients.

Classic Cu?TS ready to abuse you your children and the tax system at every opportunity.

Making the Kray twins look like muppets.

In this case, they've been doing a full refurb on two flats, so a bigger job but still not sure why it's taking so long... It is very disruptive along with the other multiple lots of building work on our road lately! Mugglesworth, that link doesn't work but he was white haired, clean shaven and maybe Irish...?

I've seen the chap since still using the 'mount the pavement to park' method so he didn't take the slightest bit of notice of my polite request! It's so dangerous to park that way when you can't see if there are children coming along the path due to parked cars. I'll not bother with the police (I'm heavily pregnant so lacking energy!) but I think I'll make a proper complaint to classic lofts.

    • Do none of you go abroad.  Tourist taxes are really common in continental Europe and do vary a lot city by city. They are collected by the hotels/rental apartments. They are usually a  tiny part of your holiday costs.  In Narbonne recently we paid €1.30 per person per night.  The next town we went to charge 80 cents per person per night. By comparison Cologne is 5% of your accomodation.
    • Hey Sue, I was wrong - I don't think it would just be for foreign tourists. So yeah I assume that, if someone lives in Lewisham and wants to say the night in southwark, they'd pay a levy.  The hotels wouldn't need to vet anyone's address or passports - the levy is automatically added on top of the bill by every hotel / BnB / hostel and passed on to Southwark. So basically, you're paying an extra two quid a night, or whatever, to stay in this borough.  It's a great way to drive footfall... to the other London boroughs.  https://www.ukpropertyaccountants.co.uk/uk-tourist-tax-exploring-the-rise-of-visitor-levies-and-foreign-property-charges/
    • Pretty much, Sue, yeah. It's the perennial, knotty problem of imposing a tax and balancing that with the cost of collecting it.  The famous one was the dog licence - I think it was 37 1/2 pence when it was abolished, but the revenue didn't' come close to covering the administration costs. As much I'd love to have a Stasi patrolling the South Bank, looking for mullet haircuts, unshaven armpits, overly expressive hand movements and red Kicker shoes, I'm afraid your modern Continental is almost indistinguishable from your modern Londoner. That's Schengen for you. So you couldn't justify it from an ROI point of view, really. This scheme seems a pretty good idea, overall. It's not perfect, but it's cheap to implement and takes some tax burden off Southwark residents.   'The Man' has got wise to this. It's got bad juju now. If you're looking to rinse medium to large amounts of small denomination notes, there are far better ways. Please drop me a direct message if you'd like to discuss this matter further.   Kind Regards  Dave
    • "What's worse is that the perceived 20 billion black hole has increased to 30 billion in a year. Is there a risk that after 5 years it could be as high as 70 billion ???" Why is it perceived, Reeves is responsible for doubling the "black hole" to £20b through the public sector pay increases. You can't live beyond your means and when you try you go bankrupt pdq. In 4 yrs time if this Govt survives that long and the country doesn't go bust before then, in 2029 I dread to think the state the country will be in.  At least Sunak and co had inflation back to 2% with unemployment being stable and not rising.
