citizenED
Hey guys, I think we're getting a little outside the remit with some of these selections. Although I like "Shawshank" its probably only a feel-good when you watch it a second or third time when you know he gets out. "Schindler's" na, only watched it once but way too serious. Out and out screwball comedies surely can't make the list. There are too many victims. Laughing at the misfortune of others might be funny but it doesn't make you smile warmly.I didn't want to include kiddies films in the list but "Ratatouille" and "Kung Fu Panda" make me smile throughout. mockney piers
I hate to detract from all the wondeful positivity, but am I alone in Love Actually making me want to stab random passers by with salad tongs? Hate that film, hate it hate it hate it. Office space is a good'un. ????
Feel good is too subjective to be a clear genre surely? I'd add The best Ealings - Passport to Pimlico, The Big Job, Ladykilers & Kind Hearts & Coronets and early Carry Ons and the Pink Panthers - anyone? DaveR
"Feel good is too subjective to be a clear genre surely?"I'd say "feel good" can be a genre or a purely personal thingI like "The Commitments" which I guess is a "feel good" genre film"Where Eagles Dare" isn't, but it's a feel good film for me because of the nostalgia factor - before the arrival of DVDs, Sky movie channel etc., a classic 60s war film on TV on a Saturday afternoon was a treat - and because the Richard Burton/Clint Eastwood combo is an absolute winner.
