geneverve
Hi, does anyone know if this is open this morning? Can't get through on the phone, and not sure if the strikes are affecting london today or not Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7444-ed-royal-mail-delivery-office/ Share on other sites

goblinqueen
I'm sure it's open as the workers are out there, however there was a big fire at the back of it in the early hours of the morning! Rockets
They never answer the phone at the sorting office........ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7444-ed-royal-mail-delivery-office/#findComment-235546 Share on other sites
louisiana
The phone number is no longer specific to the sorting office. And no, they don't answer the phone locally, when the other end tries to make the connection. Better to just turn up in person. JW
I went this morning to collect a Special Delivery letter and the delivery office was shut. There was a note on the door saying that due to industrial action it would be closed on 09.09.09 and only open between 10-11am. I couldn't wait around as I had to get to work. I called the number on the back of card they left and they couldn't let me know when the office would be back to normal. Does anybody know whether or not they will be open tomorrow or whether I have to wait until next week?Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7444-ed-royal-mail-delivery-office/#findComment-245642 Share on other sites

JW
Did you manage to pick up something this morning from the delivery office or are you talking about your normal post? I think that services are working in some capacity, but the Silvester Road delivery office was shut until 10am this morning. I need to pick up some concert tickets for next week so I'm hoping that it's open from 8am as normal tomorrow. If anybody knows whether or not it will be open as normal I'd appreciate a heads up!Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7444-ed-royal-mail-delivery-office/#findComment-245726 Share on other sites

JW
Hi mlteenieI managed to pick up my tickets from the Silvester Road Delivery Office the next day (last Thursday) as it was open as normal. There are strikes in London (all areas except EC) this Wednesday (16th Sept) so I would take a punt that the delivery office will be closed again then, or at least have restricted opening hours. Maybe try popping along tomorrow? Good luck!JW Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7444-ed-royal-mail-delivery-office/#findComment-247699 Share on other sites

Penguin68
I went into the Silvester Road sorting office today looking for a parcel that hadn't been delivered - the very helpful guy there - the one who remembers who regular customers are and where they live - said they had a two to two and a half week backlog of parcel deliveries. The posties themselves don't seem happy about disapointing customers; I am getting letter post in Underhill most days - but running 4-5 days late against normal delivery times (based on news magazine deliveries which are normally regular). The guy in the office's advice if you wanted a delivery was to get it sent 'special' - these are given priority - but at a cost Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7444-ed-royal-mail-delivery-office/#findComment-248168 Share on other sites
ed_pete
I'm still waiting for a letter sent first class last Tuesday from Sidcup. Would have been quicker to walk over and get it. fractionater
I'm in Worlingham rd - now 6 days no post. These strikes are a joke.... cuts & automation are inevitable if Royalmail is to survive.take the pain now with fewer job losses compared with potentially massive loses in the future! mlteenie
I went in to the sorting office the other day and the guy on the counter said that RM is in chaos with a huge backlog of post. Special and Recorded are prioritised. I am waiting for four or five packages for up to two weeks now and basically the posties won't work overtime so the backlog will only be gradually reduced. We are all going to have to hang in there until the whole thing is resolved, only then discovering whether our parcels have actually gone missing or not. It is a pain. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7444-ed-royal-mail-delivery-office/#findComment-249188 Share on other sites
dulwichgirl2209
I went to the post office yesterday and the nice man at the sorting office said that there was a 2 weeks backlog which would take around 3 weeks to clear. I have been waiting on items from amazon for over 2 weeks. He stated that the items posted earlier would take longer to be delievered as those item were at the bottom of the pile.Lets hope we do recieve our item. robotcat
HII am also waiting for stuff, thought I'd call the post office to see if the parcel was sat there but like the previous posts the guy told me about the back log. Interestingly though he did say that they were getting extra drivers in to clear the backlog over the next couple of days and would be hopefully getting everything out either tomorrow or Monday. He said if it hasn't turned up by Tuesday give them a call back. buggie
Could be worse.... the passport office ignored me paying for secure delivery and bunged my marrige certificate in the regular post - 3 wks ago. Got new passport begining of Sept but think my certificate's lost forever - suppose I should cross my fingers my identity (or that of my husband's) isn't stolen :(On the plus side, the manager at the LL Post Office couldn't have been more helpful when trying to sort this out yesterday.
