citizenED
I saw the child catcher in "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" and was scarred for life - and indeed scared for life. bon3yard
For pure pant wetting tension it would be difficult to beat Eden Lake, Switchblade Romance & Wolf Creek in the recent canon. Izodia
I saw the original The Vanishing last night. It's very 80s. But then ending is one of my worst nightmares... TillieTrotter
I love a scary movie and would crap myself watching edgar allan poe (hammer house of horror) movies when I was a young teen. One that still sticks in my mind is The Pit and the Pendulum. I haven't seen a really good scary film in ages so will take up some suggestions for this weekends viewing. Alabama
Tim Curry scared the bayjeezus out of me when I watched IT at the age of 11. Apparently he was so creepy on set that no-one would go near him, even the crew. After that, I became a complete scardy cat and can't sit through films like The Others and Sixth Sense without a pillow to hide behind. mockney piers
Cor and blimey. Just finished watching 'Let the Right One In' the aforementioned Swedish horror film. Easily best film in the genre I've seen in a very long time. Asian horror eat your heart out (err so to speak), the swedes are here. Wow, just wow. No cliches, no stock in trade chills or frights, none of that ramp the tension up music. Just a great story, brillaint direction, fine fine performances from the young leads and, just wow. Watch it. Even if youre not a horror fan, in fact especially not, I'm not even convinced it's a horror film really, though if you're squeamish you might struggle a bit mind...Anyway, in summary, breezes. Oh, and Wow!!!! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7471-thriller-and-horror-fans/page/3/#findComment-237630 Share on other sites

Jeremy
Let The Right One In is good - good performances, good script, great direction. But yeah, I don't really think it's a horror film either... comparisons with the J-Horror stuff don't really hold water, it's really a different kettle of fish altogether.
