Does anyone else see these requests and calls for assistance and think 'what the f_ck' such as;

"What's the quickest way to run a bath?"

"How do I do up my shoe laces?"

"How do you go about making icecubes?"

O.K, I know that the above are a bit of an exageration but a lot of the requests for info or way of going about doing something on the forum (not just this one) could easily be solved by a bit of Google research or in a book instead of posting on an internet message board.

Call me old fashioned or cynical but sometimes these requests only require a tiny bit of effort on behalf of the poster.

Lecture over.

Very funny BBW - it did make me laugh

I think a lot of ppl who ain't got a clue feel more comfortable asking such questions to similarly blessed individuals.. although many people on the EDF are of course intellectual super stars it still represents a cross section of society so is thus a better way of asking dimwit questions than say on the pompous Bathroom Forum..

Having done a quick check on Google for "What's the quickest way to run a bath?" (btw, I *think* I know the answer doh) you'll find out on page 1 it does not really cater for the mentally challenged hence why these kind of mind boggling threads exist..

Attack dog ready and waiting BBW B)

leash, strain

Fair point bbw.

Alas some of the the posts on here are just a small microcosm of the general idleness of people off the scope of the ED forum.

I feel far more depressed at some examples of 999 calls that are made.

A male caller has dialled 999 to report that he has not been paid by the DSS.

A female caller has dialled 999 to ask what year the Internet started.

A male caller has dialled 999 to say that his wife has gone out without leaving any food to eat.

Another caller wanted to know the weather while one woman said her hamster was trapped behind a wardrobe.

Could these also be people 'touched in the head'?

    • I am keeping my fingers crossed the next few days are not so loud. I honestly think it is the private, back garden displays that are most problematic as, in general, there is no way of knowing when and where they might happen. For those letting off a few bangers in the garden I get it is tempting to think what's the harm in a few minutes of 'fun', but it is the absolute randomness of sudden bangs that can do irreparable damage to people and animals. With organised events that are well advertised there is some forewarning at least, and the hope is that organisers of such events can be persuaded to adopt and make a virtue of using only low noise displays in future.
    • There was an excellent discussion on Newscast last night between the BBC Political Editor, the director of the IFS and the director of More In Common - all highly intelligent people with no party political agenda and far more across their briefs than any minister I've seen in years. The consensus was that Labour are so unpopular and untrusted by the electorate already, as are the Conservatives, that breaking the manifesto pledge on income tax wouldn't drive their approval ratings any lower, so they should, and I quote, 'Roll The Dice', hope for the best and see where we are in a couple of years time. As a strategy, i don't know whether I find that quite worrying or just an honest appraisal of what most governments actually do in practice.
    • They are a third of the way through their term Earl. It's no good blaming other people anymore. They only have three years left to fix what is now their own mess. And its not just lies in the manifesto. There were lies at the last budget too, when they said that was it, they weren't coming back for more tax and more borrowing. They'd already blamed the increase in NIC taxes on what they claimed was a thorough investigation. They either knew everything then or they lied about that too .   They need to stop lying and start behaving. If they don't the next government won't be theirs, it will be led by Nigel Farage.  They have to turn it round rapidly. Blaming other people, telling lies and breaking promises isn't going to cut it any more.
