Having passed this establishment on Holly Grove on many occasions I took Mrs. Eccentric out last night for a sample. A truly fantastic meal. Not your average LL curry house, you could identify and taste every ingredient, highly recommended.

I would also like to declare no financial interest in this establishment!

I have to agree. IT's not far from us, and is fantastic - get yourselves along, you won't be disappointed.

If the weather is good, and you book in advance, you can sit out back in their little yard. They only have one long table out there, so it's nice and private. They have nice plants and flower baskets out there, and it really is lovely! I was sat out there the first time my friend took me there, and it was so nice.... Maybe that's why I'm so positive on the place... Good first impressions. Have always liked it since though.

Sitting outside would also sort the smelling of cooking thing ;-) I've not actually noticed it before, but it is quite a little place, so I can well believe it... Small price to pay though, you can just take you clothes to CSM dry cleaners to get them sorted ;-)

Went there last night for first time and can highly recommend - little gem of a place. Excellent food and service (chef is a woman by the way) and we didn't smell of cooking afterwards. It's pretty and original - small garden looked inviting but We sat inside. There are outside tables on pavement area - only possible drawback are skulking hoodies who occasionally drift past, having been mugged around there a few years ago I took a minimalist handbag (in terms of contents for a laydee) with me.

Okay I am going to run and hide for cover after I post this.

Ganapati is good. I would go so far as to say it is without doubt the best in Peckham Rye/ East Dulwich borders.

But it is not amazing in my humble opinion.

Babur in Brockley is amazing.... http://www.babur.info/website/index.php?pageId=home

Try it! It's worth the trip...

I went to Ganapati early one evening with eldest daughter this pushy waitress asked if we had booked, the place was empty except for a couple at one table. She then said we are fully booked and need the table at 9pm it was 7pm when we entered.

My daughter had the lamb which was good, I had a chicken breast which was succulent but neither dish was outstanding.

We had 5 poppadoms and the bill was ?40 which I remembered most. The previous week we had eaten just as well for under ?20 at the rye hotel.

Agreed!

A note of warning though. Although Babur also provides a home delivery service which streteches to ED this is not to the same menu, or anything like the same standard, as that of the restaurant proper. (It is based at different premises). That said I think the standard of the home delivered food is still quite superior to the ED places.

    • The solicitor is also the Executor. Big mistake, but my Aunt was very old, and this was the Covid years and shortly after so impossible to intervene and get a couple of close relatives to do this.  She had no children so this is the nephews and nieces. He is a single practitioner, and most at his age would have long since retired - there is a question over his competence Two letters have already gone essentially complaining - batted off and 'amusingly' one put the blame on us. There are five on our side, all speaking to each other, and ideally would work as a single point of contact.  But he has said that this is not allowed - we've all given approval to act on each others behalf. There are five on her late husband's side, who have not engaged with us despite the suggestion to work as a team, There is one other, who get's the lion's share, the typicical 'friend', but we are long since challenging the will. I would like to put another complaint together that he has not used modern collective communication (I expect that he is incapable) which had seriously delayed the execution of the will.   I know many in their 80s very adept with smart phones so that is not an ageist comment. The house has deteriorated very badly, with cold, damp and a serious leak.  PM me if you want to see the dreadful condition that it is now in. I would also question why if the five of us are happy to work together why all of us need to confirm in writing.
    • Isn’t a five yearly electricity safety certificate one of the things the landlord must give for a legal tenancy?
    • Very sorry to hear this, but surely the landlord is responsible for fixing the electrics?  Surely they must be insured for things like this? I hope you get it all sorted out quickly.

We have been forced to close for one of the busiest weekends of the year, losing thousands of pounds in income, and are now having to fight our landlords for support with the leak. We are asking all our allies for support as we try and reignite the crowdfunder to reflect the new expensive work that needs to take place, and the gear we need to replace. Thank you in advance for your support so far, and your support going forward.
