I quote like the place. I say that as someone about as scottish as FnB.

This thing is so ridiculous, reminds me of the freedom fries thing.

Especially as a)the sort of American who buys scotch is unlikely to give ashit about calls for a boycott (same ones who have doubtless been enjoying their scotch with an illegal cuban cigar) and

b)he probably didn't do it anyway, any longterm reader of Private Eye knows there are a lot of unanswered questions that compassionate release rather than an appeal was designed to avoid.

Here's a good road trip for you guys. I'm a great admirer of Scottish literature and having read Iain Bank's Raw Spirit: In Search Of The Perfect Dram recently I'd quite like to replicate his road trip visiting the local distileries and trying out all that lovely Scotch. So Keef and Fear are you in?

    • Charity shops have really good board books, especially St Christopher's
    • It was indeed in the vicinity of DKH. I live on the ED estate and I could tell it must be close by because of the noise. When I left my house this morning I found the culprits litter still in the middle of the st. It looked like they had lit a whole box on fire in the middle of the road. My cat jumped out of her skin. I’ll try and report it on Southwark website same as I have had to with other illegal use this week. Any other ideas for what we can do with the photos? Maybe one of the Southwark councillors. It’s outrageous and dangerous behaviour.
    • Had another great meal there…. those that haven’t tried it, give it a go.. have a special lunch menu as well so you can get a flavour of the food.
    • If you "cotton on" and read the council announcement, it clearly states "The library will be closed from 17 November until late June or early July 2026."  https://www.southwark.gov.uk/2025/dulwich-library-closing-refurbishment
