A work colleague brought to my attention this morning that old style incandescent light bulbs are to be phased out. Soon, you'll only be able to buy those puny energy saving things or expensive LED alternatives. I've heard people are stockpiling the old style bulbs in readiness for the ban, and would be interested to see what punishment befalls the first casualty of the 'Bulb Police'...

The future's bright...but not as bright as it used to be.

Light Bulbs

Don't worry, some Eastern European country will make them and fill the gap in the market, and we will be able to buy them from some of the shops in Rye Lane. And the Electricity Companies will devise a way if a way has not already been devised of working out which homes are using them. And this law loving government will be able to create yet another new law for us to break and criminalise us all with! Yayy!
Then it will only be a matter of time before the forum is fill of discussions about how the area is going downhill with all of the incandescent bulb users around, speculation on police raids on houses where they were seen carting off boxes of imported bulbs, and dodgy dealings under the counters at various stores in Rye Lane.

The streets'll be clogged with Private Walker lookalikes, Quids will be stopped from the announcing of each 100th post, we'll shun neighbours who are "brighter than they should be", Farmers will make a fortune and the whole bally show will go to hell in a handcart.

A handcart I tell you.

Damnit Brendan, you're right - but surely the latter is the other way round - or maybe not.

As Bob Dylan once said: "Keep a good head and always carry a lightbulb."

Not to put a serious note on an amusing discussion but is this not a good thing. I would make the comparison to CFC filled aerosols that were banned.

These items are inefficient and waste energy. The modern energy-saving lightbulb gives off as much light but uses much less power to do so. It also lasts much longer. And the cost had fallen dramatically in the last few years.

So....what's the problem?

New job boyo.

Only just easing back into the world of work and a bit of posting. Doubt I'll be very prolific though. Pop down to the Gowlett on Friday if you want a proper natter over a pint.
