Hi 85volga,

Commercial businesses each have commercial waste contracts for waste disposal. In an ideal world all the Lordship Lanes businesses would have one commercial waste contractor realising lots of bulk purchasing savings and ensuring a better service. When asked the business association SSBA didn't feel they wee suitable for this. But they're interested in forming a Business Improvement District (BID). If successful I could see this taking such a scheme forward and others. Bulk energy buying being another ya to save lots of cash for local indie businesses.

Until then though please email specific locations and times troubling you and I will try and improve.

Maybe the first check should be that the bars & restaurants have the correct licence to place tables & chairs outside! I believe it's called a shop front licence.

Businesses are entitled to use whatever licensed waste carrier they choose. Where do you suggest the largd euro bins are kept? They will block the pavements. Bags are collected daily thats why left on street for collecting. Stop complaining over non issues.

If a business has a daily collection bins are not needed.

You can actually, at least on the Southern machines.

I've just experimented with the ED one.

You need to select Boundary Zone n (where n=6 for a freedom

pass holder). It finds itself among all the 'B' stations.

As Denmark Hill also has TfL services there I've asked GLA Assembly Member Caroline Pidgeon if she can apply pressure for a second ticket machine and whether the Camberwell Society idea of opening up another entrance could be explored.

I suspect resistance due to the amount of money already spent on Denmark Hill - even if all that cash resulted in more congestion!

James ,apologies if this has already have been raised but - junction of Whately Rd and Lordship Lane ,turning right into Lordship Lane from Whately Rd ,vision is badly obscured for motorists by recycling bins .

Could they be relocated ?

Yes, but useful to have more people highlight this.

Circa 3 months ago I asked council officers to assess whether the guardrailings could be removed and recyclnig repositioned. It is taking a lot of chasing to make progress on this I'm afraid but I'm still chasing. I'm hopeful that by the summer it will be sorted.

Making Lordship Lane 20mph will have helped, certainly makes removing the guardrailing possible, by reducing speeds a smidgen.

James ,just to be clear the guardrailing is not a problem . It is the large litter/recycling bins that are the problem .

They have recently appeared in this position and presumably could easily be removed .

I second the slight repositioning of the recycling bins - I noticed these a few days ago, and at driver height, they certainly hinder one's view of traffic on LL

So, James, the council have done as you requested and relocated the recycling bins - but only from one end of the railings to the other. I do appreciate now being able to see the road instead of the bins (where they were before) but they are now very conspicuous as the first thing you see, rather than the road, when you look to the right at this junction. Do you think the council consider this resolves the problem of the obstructed view at this junction. Perhaps you could take a look and see what you think?

When I drove past the bins today I realised that they weren't fixed and could easily ( tho not if recovering from surgery ) be shoved along .

If I'd realised that I wouldn't have raised the issue in the first place . Thanks to whoever has moved them . I'm afraid I don't quite understand the point Kiera makes .

Apologies if you already have had postings about this topic..but I was really upset, along with many other ED residents, to hear that Chris Burgess's grocers on Northcross rd, has been forced to close by bailiffs who changed the locks last week (I hear there is a short reprieve of maybe a couple of weeks)This as you know, has been a family run business for 47 yrs, and has been a valuable, good quality, and much loved business to many of us who chose to support him, rather than buy from the supermarkets. I just wonder, is there anything that we can collectively do, to change this decision? I know it has been a tortuous 'family' rift which made the lease a problem, but many of us signed petitions against closure, which apparently were not even looked at by the delegation who made the decision,of 4-2 against saving it..

Can you shed any further light on this, and what, if anything, we can do? I cannot believe the ED can lose a much needed, and only grocers.,,I am gutted

Yes I supported Chris by attending the. planning Committee and speaking against the planning application as a ward councillor. As ward councillors my colleagues cllr Jonathan Mitchell, cllr Rosie Shimell and myself had called this application in to be decided by councillors. Officers recommended granting planning permission and by a majority the committee granted permission. Very disappointing.

The developers were clear to the planning committee they'd like to talk to Chris which was obvious at the time a shallow promise since sadly born out by events.

Since that committee we've been trying to find a different shop unit to transfer the business into. I'm still hopeful but their will probably be a gap.

If anyone knows of a local shop unit available please let Chris know ASAP.

Some weeks ago I was asked about whether a second ticket machine could be installed at Denmark Hill station due to congestion.

I asked Lib Dem GLA Assembly Member for help. She contacted TfL first who referred her to the Train Operating Company. They relinquish this station at the calendar year end to a different TOC. But they were sorry for any queueing - and highlgihted it's in their interest to sell tickets. They will monitor queueing and try ensuring staff with hand held tickets machine are their more often and look to open a second ticket office window.

If this doesnt solve the problem then they may recommend the next TOC installs a second machine.

She plans to meet with them again around June. So please do feed problems to me by email and I'll brief her about ED resident views.

Hi James.

Hoping you can help or point me in the direction of who can. Two issues.

I live on Maxted Road in SE15. More and more frequently we are getting full size coaches coming down our road having turned off Bellenden and then trying to turn left or right onto Nutbrook St and then gradually wind their way though onto East Dulwich Road. The problem is that a massive coach (I'm talking 70-80 seaters) does not fit on a narrow residential street with parked cars both sides.

They are getting stuck, blocking traffic and causing chaos. Often late into the evening. I have a suspicion they are coming from the Peckham Lodge which seems popular with large groups of European students (the coaches are normally overseas registered). I'm guessing their sat-navs just send them that way. But it's really not a good idea. Is there any way of either making an instruction to the owner of the Lodge to direct coaches via Camberwell and Dog Kennel Hill or putting up signage stating coaches are not permitted?

2) Why was the beautiful and wildlife-friendly cherry plum tree at the bottom of Warwick Gardens cut down?

We would like to petition to get some trees/hedges planted on the goose green playground to block the noise/pollution coming from East Dulwich Road. the Goose Green playground is probably the best in the area (cf. Peckham Rye, Dulwich Park and the playground by Sainsbury's) and its a shame to think what the kids are actually breathing in.

If there is a better way to try and get this installed, please let me know.
