Yes, last year possibly October community police called to my home in SE5 and left two bottles of the stuff. I supplied my name and address on a form that was relevant to paint within bottle. Pity I didn't put a blob of it on the sat nav that was nicked from our car in Feb this year!

Same here- PCSO called and left me the kit. You sign a statement showing that it is unique to you

Now all my vauables are dabbed and a sticker on the front door declares as such to Billy Burglar

I have even put a smigeon behind each ear, in case i am kidnapped

Thanks for reminding me of that thread, Mark. That's brightened up my morning no end!

East dulwich councillors asked the local Police Safer Neighbourhood Team led by sgt Duncan Jackson what would their number one proprioty for crime prevention in East Dulwich. They said they were given 100 Smartwater property marking kits, on a good year, by the Met Police. They suggested they'd prefer SelectaDNA. So the Lib Dem East Dulwich cllrs responded by providing 1,000 SelectaDNA property marking kits.

We also suggested to the Police they deploy these properry marking kits to innoculate houses where burglary has taken place and their neighbours for 50m. Most burglaries are repeats around previous burglaries. They know the house layouts so more certainty what they'll meet.

I'm told all the kits have been deployed. 1,000 out of 5,200 homes in East Dulwich ward. Any burglar of an East Dulwich home has an 18% chance of stealing proprty that will get them or any fencer nicked.

We anticipate buying another 1,000 property marking kits this year.

If you'd like one for your home then let the local Police know [email protected]

As a follow up on this and the previous thread from January

I would like to clear something up

Firstly Smartwater and SelectaDNA are NOTthe same product

SelectaDNA uses a scientificaly desigend and manufactured DNA code unique to each kit ( over 1 billion possible combinations) these DNA codes CANNOT be confused with 'normal' or Human DNA as they are modified to stop this occuring.

Once purchased and registered to the database use is free.

Smartwater contains NO DNA it utilises a combination of chemicals to act as markers. The real downside about smartwater is that they have a reagistra=tion fee of over ?10 per year to keepyou on the database don't pay it your details are deleted and if the police find your gear they will not be able to repatriate it

    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
    • Wholeheartedly recommend Aria. He was polite, responsive and sorted our leak, from an old tap on an old plumbing system, with no bother and on same day.
