@edhistory - not sure? I've just been getting increasingly frustrated by the growing barricades which appear to be being put up to stop those of us to the east of Crystal Palace Road getting through to Lordship Lane. And the impact on the Upland Road businesses from months of obstruction doesn't seem to be something that troubles Southwark very much either...
It's really dangerous today. A neighbour has photographed it and reported to Southwark. I pointed it out to a passing police officer as well. Thank you for your concern for the shops. I think all the Upland Road shops have noticed a drop in footfall since the beginning of the building works.
Last week there were builder vans (2 or 3) on the footpath plus a delivery of bricks. Very dangerous for pedestrians. The footpaths are very steadily being destroyed - will the developers be charged for this? I certainly hope so they're going to make a killing out of these properties.
I agree with you Rob - Its a terrible set up and extremely dangerous for the public and road users and the hoarding they have up is ridiculously dangerous in itself, just about holding itself up. What council pillock allowed this application to go through?!!
This is being very poorly managed and is really dangerous, especially for vulnerable road users. I've reported to Southwark twice now. This morning there was a flat bed parked on Crystal Palace Rd, right on the corner with Upland Rd, completely blocking sight lines. This is absurd, especially during busy times.

I think that Cosmur (the developers of the Old Police Station site) are: http://www.cosmur.co.uk/who-we-are/ (see logo at bottom of page).

It'd be good if our local Councillors could pick this up. It seemed crazy when the north side pavement was originally blocked for what will eventually be over a year once it's finally opened again, but now it's incredibly dangerous.

The developes are treating this junction as an extension of their property. These big developers are clearly too powerful, Councillors seem too scared to take them on or be publicly critical and I am not sure the Council care- after all who knows what goes on behind closed doors.

This development is not being properly monitored, if it was how could pictures like this emerge and no action taken? Imagine if ordinary residents took over the public streets and paths and blocked them for months on end?

What with the building works on the other side of the road now - WTF! Where are pedestrians supposed to walk. Southwark Council must be cashing in on this - its an accident waiting to happen! whenever I walk past either of these sites most of the workman are sitting down doing sweet FA anyway, in their trucks illegally parked blaring out shite music - who ever is employing them is a fool - too!
Council Officers are happy - as per emails I've received. And will not make the old Police station builders there release the road or pavement. I've raised my complaint to the next stage to try and get some sense into this dangerous and damaging situation.

James,

Thank you for pursuing this. There really is danger of setting a precedent as other building companies are likley to follow the example of Cosmur and see that they get away with using the street as a building site extension, with no fear of consequences. The dangers to all road and path users are clear.

    • I never said I thought it was targeted or deliberate. There also has never been a “stand off” or confrontation, we’ve spoken to them in a friendly manner about it. Our experience is they don’t seem to care. That’s the frustrating thing for us, if someone politely raises a concern at least take a second to reflect. Treat others how you would want to be treated.  I don’t want them to lose their job, far from it. But considering it could cost me a days work to fix any damage, I’m within my right to try prevent it.
    • The SE22 Evri delivery family are lovely, and always say hello wherever we spot them in the area. We gave them a box of chocolates during Covid as they were working their socks off at Christmas
    • What was he doing on the stage at Glastonbury? Or on the stage at the other concert in Finsbury Park? Grinning like a Cheshire cat whilst pissed and stoned 20 somethings on the promise of free internet sung-- Oh Jeremy Corbyn---  What were his policies for Northern mining towns with no jobs or infrastructure? Free Internet and university places for youngsters. What were his other manifesto pledges? Why all the ambiguity over Brexit?  I didn't like Thatcher, Blair or May or Tony but I respected them as politicians because they stood by what they believed in. I respect all politicians across the board that stick to their principles. Corbyn didn't and its why he got  annihilated at the polls. A socialist, anti imperialist and anti capitalist that said he voted for an imperialist and pro capitalist cabal. He refused to say how he'd vote over and over again until the last knockings. He did so to appease the Islington elite and middle class students he was courting. The same people that were screaming that Brexit was racist. At the same time the EU were holding black and Asian immigrants in refugee camps overseas but not a word on that! Corbyn created and courted a student union protest movement that screamed at and shouted down anyone not on the left . They claimed Starmer and the centre right of labour were tories. He didn't get elected  because he, his movement and policies were unelectable, twice. He turned out not to have the convictions of his politics and died on his own sword.    Reform won't win an election. All the idiots that voted for them to keep out Labour actually enabled Labour. They'll be back voting tory next time.    Farage wouldn't be able to make his millions if he was in power. He's a very devious shyster but I very much doubt he'd actually want the responsibility that governance requires.
