May be a bit harsh, but everyones a critic especially of the chair's hard efforts (poor thing HAD to read the entire HAL v Huguenot bitch slap for instance) and can wax lyrical about what should be, but not a single offer on doing anything about it, and yes that's depressing.

And yes, earn it lackey!!!

I'm glad to have been working hard and have missed most of this debate - it seems to have become a bit heated.

Its become a debate between good and bad:

Moos = Good

Bigbadwolf = Bad (it does what it says on the tin and I generally find it funny)

But not all that's bad is bad for you and not all thats good is good for you either. Too much good is dull and too much bad is very bad.

Good and Bad forced together tend to find a balance where neither of them is happy - that's what has happened here - but it was entertaining.

Iaineasy, I have to say that I agree with you...actually I believe that BBW might in fact be a BBR (bigbadrhino) - he certainly appears to have the skin of one. Many people might have difficulty accepting the regular waves of criticism he seems to "take on the chin".

So, some respect from me too.>:D<. (Do excuse "ghastly emotion"...but I like them).

The current chair should stay, but get more involved, would be my opinion. An intersting point was made earlier, before BBW started being BBW, someone said they liked the Drawing Room, but found it a bit intimidating. I do think that a lot of the posts in there try so hard to sound all knowledgable, and spot on, even if hey state the exact opposite to the previous knowledgable and spot on post. This then can be off putting for someone who just wants to offer an opinion, without wanting the rest of the world to think "aren't they clever". This doesn't bother me personally of course, because I am fucking clever! :-S

... the chair ... poor thing ...

Is this a clue as to the Chair's identity?

Who would mockney refer to as "poor thing"?

Surely, someone he feels protective towards, superior to, even? A female, perhaps?

Or am I reading too much into this?

That's very funny Keef - and spot on. Everyone in the DR posts hoping everyone else will respond saying "you're spot on -that's the right answer - you're a genius"

But that never happens - people just disagree, because everyone else thinks they have the perfect viewpoint.

I had one go at it and gave up.

"The Chair wishes to have HAL9000's babies."

You're not allowed to post in the lounge as the chair. Whoever you are, don't ever come in here again with that mask on.

I'm being serious as well. I'm not allowed in your drawing room so who the hell do you think you are coming in here strutting about the place when no one can identify you. P_ss off out of here!!

Good point Hal. I started it because I discovered that after the forums overhall the eye in the sky had neglected to extend my ban into the drawing/yawning room. I genuinely wanted to garner a positive response but it was also admittedly an experiment to see if I could get away with it. I then started a thread about smuggling and it was moved to the lounge and I was banned from the drawing room.

I'm not playing a sympathy card but I'm not blaming admin either. I simply can't be trusted with all the high brow debaters although f_ck knows how Quids gets away with it.

I'm sure you could control yourself if you put your mind to it.

Ha! What highbrow debaters? It's just the same old crowd that hangs around in the lounge but without the one-liners.

If the Drawing Room is to survive and flourish it needs to be a place where everyone feels comfortable and welcome.

It's supposed to be a place to discuss serious subjects not an exclusive retreat for highbrow debaters. Everyone is entitled to express their opinion on serious issues - you included.

    • Rant ahead: You're not one of them but unfortunately, there's a substrate of posters here that do very little except moan and come up with weird conspiracy theories. They're immediately highly critical of just about any change, and their initial assumption is that everyone else is a total fucking contemptible idiot. For example: don't you think that the people who run the libraries will have considered the impact of timing of reconstruction on library users? (In fact, we know they have - because they've made arrangements at other libraries to attempt to mitigate the disruption). After all, these are the people that spend their whole working week thinking about libraries and dealing with library users (and the kids especially). You don't go into the library game for the chicks and fame - so it's fair to assume that librarians are committed to public service and public access to libraries, including by kids. Likewise the built environment people (engineers, architects, construction managers, project managers, construction contractors, subcontractors or whoever is on this job) are told to minimise disruption on every job they do. The thing that occurs to us as amateurs within 30 seconds of us seeing something is probably not something a full time professional hasn't thought about! Southwark Council, the NHS, TfL, Dulwich Estate, Thames Water, Openreach - they're not SPECTRE factories filled with malevolent chaosmongers trying to persecute anyone. They're mostly filled with people who understand their job and try to do their best with what they've been given - just like all of us. Nobody is perfect or immune from challenge, and that's fair enough, but why not at least start from the assumption that there's a good reason why things have been done the way they have? Any normal person would be pleased that their busy, pretty, lively local library is getting refurbished, and will have more space and facilities for kids and teens, and will be more efficient to run and warmer in winter. But no, EDT_Forumite_752 had kids who did an exam 20 years ago, and this makes them an expert on library refurbishment who can see it's all just stuff and nonsense for the green agenda and why can't it all be put off... 😡😡😡
    • I completely misread the previous post, sorry. For some reason I thought the mini cooper was also a police vehicle, DUH.
