Late this afternoon I was told that the terrible snow and cold, wet weather has delayed works. That the contractors have allocated as many people as they can have safely working together to catch up with the weather delays.

At the worst point a 12 week delay looked possible which is what the receptionist appears to have told people. But that with the extra resources allocated for catching up it should be much less than that.

I've asked for a firmer date asap.

Hi EDmummy,

I've requested a further update on where things are and when the pool will reopen.

I passed it this morning and the new entrance is definately progressing. It will never happen quickly enought for me.

As soon as I hear something I'll let you know.

Fully refurbished pool. Slightly reduced length from previous 27.5m to 25m allowing the corner that you could'nt walk around to actually walkaround. No more changing cublices beside the pool so more space around the pool. Viewing area. Proper changing rooms Cafe. Insulated roof and other walls etc. Lots energy efficient feasures. New plant. New dance studios. THEN the gym gets refurbished.

Does any of that include a soft play area or any facilities for toddlers?

By new plant you mean new engineering equipment etc as opposed to a new yucca or something? :-)

...and I was told by someone in reception last week that the pool would open sometime in July (this year). Doesn't seem like anyone there really knows for sure.

New plant - I meant new water cleaning, electric etc machinery.

But the new and old entrances I believe will have new planting.

Soft play not in the plans. Very little feedback in the public consultation for this. I did ask for this in the consultation. At the time my kids were 3 & 4. But little support so I'm afraid still a trek down to the Peckham Pulse for soft play (Peckham Pulse soft play ok young kids party venue as well if you're organised).

    • Thanks all, our hope was (despite the diminishing estate) he would get on with it.  Progress is glacial, it's been two years since probate was granted, that's two cold and damp winters with no heating, and not surprisingly a pipe burst. He's blames the issues on the estate agent, who separately had a dispute with him, he had a wobbly when one of the beneficiaries spoke to the estate agent.  Separately he said it was the family's fault for letting the property get into a poor condition.  It was dated, but certainly not in poor condition. There are two five star reviews on Google, and five one star: ** WARNING** This solicitor firm has to be one of the worst I have encountered. The solicitor is prehistoric in his practices and will carry out work at his own snails pace, the fax machine he uses gets turned off at 2 pm and its near impossible to get him on the phone. STAY AWAY, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, check the solicitors ombudsman, this firm has previous bad practice recorded.   Disgusting under no circumstances use this solicitor. For over 10 years he has not carried out the terms of a Will he has not re-invested money but has retained it.  He writes letters which are pure "Flannel" excuses for doing nothing.  You have been warned   shocking experience, delayed the whole process, told other side solicitors to not contact him as he feels pressured etc. never use.   Not fit for 21st century. No website, no email address, no electronic transfer. Very slow, very little communication.   Was not a pleasant experience dealing with this firm
