I just spent ages online looking for a santa grotto to visit in London this year. Im totally in it for the photo, but I really dont want to spend an arm and a leg on it. We dont need a 4D experience (westfield) or a elf brunch (the rainforest cafe)or a free one with a mile long queue (winter wonderland).

I looking for a good old meet santa, get a toy, get a photo of my scared kids with santa so we can laugh at it when they are older.

We did the horniman one year before last and it was only ok, a bit rushed, all over in a few minutes.

Any suggestions ?

I have since found this.

Santa Grotto in the Museum of London's Victorian walk.

Tickets between ?7-9 per child (includes gift). Photographs available at an additional cost.

5, 6 & 12-23 December

Anyone been ?

The fair at Dulwich college normally has a lovely Santa if you go early there is only a very short wait, low cost and includes a gift. Students are dressed as elves and entertain the kids while you wait. Friends of Dulwich College Christmas Fair, on Sunday 29th November 2015 from 10.30am-4pm.

Apparently most of the ruxley manor slots had gone by September! Ditto places such as Harrods. We are going to one in Norfolk whilst visiting friends over December and that had limited slots left- in early October.

Big business apparently this year these grottos..

  • 3 weeks later...

We took my daughter to Whippersnappers last years and I have to say we were really disappointed. We found it quite disorganised and a bit shabby.

Last week we went the Harrods' Grotto and we loved it. It had that "magical" touch and only cost ?10.

    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
