Otta
Thought I'd start a thread to get some ideas, and which other people can use if they're stuck.Right, so I have drawn out a female colleague, 28 years old, SERIOUS runner (like does qualifying times for marathons). I don't know much else about her interests other than that she likes to go out for a drink with her pals. So was thinking of a running related gift. The allowed bBudget is around a tenner.Any ideas??? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/85303-secret-santa-help/ Share on other sites
Jeremy
Hat, gloves, snood, etc. Running shops might be too expensive. Decathlon is a good bet. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/85303-secret-santa-help/#findComment-933136 Share on other sites
Louisa
I would opt for a running gift set pack. Including glow in the dark arm bands, pedomitor and water bottle.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/121255521512?adgroupid=13585920426&hlpht=true&hlpv=2&rlsatarget=pla-131843269506&ul_ref=http%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Frover%252F1%252F710-134428-41853-0%252F2%253Fipn%253Dicep%2526icep_id%253D67%2526mtid%253D1673%2526kwid%253D1%2526crlp%253D50600204586_563391%2526icep_item_id%253D121255521512%2526itemid%253D121255521512%2526icep_meta_categ_id%253D888%2526icep_etrs%253DY%2526icep_epid%253D-999%2526icep_ctlg%253D-999%2526icep_cond%253DNew%2526targetid%253D131843269506%2526rlsatarget%253Dpla-131843269506%2526rpc%253D0.15%2526rpc_upld_id%253D59407%2526device%253Dm%2526icep_msku_flag%253Dn%2526icep_cbt%253Dn%2526adtype%253Dpla%2526loc%253D1006681%2526poi%253D%2526campaignid%253D207297426%2526adgroupid%253D13585920426%2526gclid%253DCNW6s6f4uskCFRBmGwodxqIMCQ%2526srcrot%253D710-134428-41853-0%2526rvr_id%253D941655957952&adtype=pla&ff3=1&lpid=122&poi=&ul_noapp=true&limghlpsr=true&device=m&chn=ps&campaignid=207297426&crdt=0&ff12=67&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff14=122&viphx=1&ops=true&ff13=80Louisa. LondonMix
If she is really a runner, she'll have all her kit already and she'll be particular about what she uses as is every specialist. Think about someone trying to buy you music kit for a tenner. I used to be a long distance runner (before I hurt my knee and back) and you often need to soak your muscles after long training runs or after a race. She is less likely to have treated herself to something nice like bath salts or bubble bath and its less likely to go to waste. See if you can find something specifically for sore muscles (not sure that exists). Or I was thinking of either a book or something funny, but I wanted ideas from runners (being a lazy fat bastard myself), so thanks. Jeremy
LondonMix Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Think about someone trying to buy you music kit for a tenner. There are LOADS of useful things you can buy a musician/guitarist for under a tenner. Obviously you're not going to buy a guitar for that, but you might buy a cable, strap, tuner, etc.Similarly for a runner.. you're not going to get your running shoes or a proper bit of clothing, but you might get some gloves or something. And even if you have them already, a spare pair never hurts! LondonMix
I know and there is a lot of stuff a runner needs for a tenner regularly like new socks, gels to stop rashes etc. But you don't really get excited about getting that stuff as gifts and you probably have very specific ideas about which brands you prefer etc. I'm only speaking for myself-- I still do half marathons and that's just how I would feel about it. Otta
I did think socks, but then thought Nah.A running belt seemed the most likely and useful clothing option that she MIGHT not have, but I am thinking the pampering after a long race angle might be a goer. Muley
I was recommended magnesium tablets for muscle stiffness, so went into Healthmatters on LL for a look at the weekend. They do topical magnesium muscle rub cremes for about a tenner, if that's any good? That and a small bottle of bubble bath would be nice.http://www.amazon.co.uk/Baylis-Mosaic-Sweet-Mandarin-Grapefruit/dp/B00FG9AUSM/ref=sr_1_6?s=drugstore&ie=UTF8&qid=1448990445&sr=1-6&keywords=bubble+bath Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/85303-secret-santa-help/#findComment-933207 Share on other sites

Hoopster
I'd spend the tenner on something fun and frivolous. For example, photo booth kit, inflatable dolphin, inflatable reindeer antlers hat that you throw rings onto (saw that on Amazon), a children's turn taking game like Pop-up Pirate or Shark attack, novelty masks or hats.
