The best thing about the episode I saw is that the Spooks HQ (exterior) is the Masonic building in Covent Garden and my office backs on to it. It's an amazing place - I went in there once during an open weekend.

MM - Say No to 0870 is indeed a wonderful thing. Interestingly enough, a lot of the landline numbers provided are submitted by Whistleblowers from the companies. I like the idea of that.

Mockney - pure Dad's Army.

So MI5 software actually shows you the password as you're entering it does it when asterisking it is about as bog standard a first tier of security defence as exists.

And they're really going to believe that man with high clearance logs on with his own name and transfers funds into his own bank account?

Oh god, I know i know, I'm picking holes in Spooks...repeat after me 'don't point out plot holes in spooks, it's pointless' again....

and noone in the office is even batting an eyelid at Cold hearted Harry's little pep talks and arms on shoulders 'is wittle wuth ok, does wuthy want a hug?'

Oh I had a Spooks fest at the weekend and watched all 3 on the iplayer. Its very Mi5 by Marks and Spencers. I rather like that. Do you think anyone in 24 would have stopped to consider the internal gifts and entertainment policy when presented with some vodka from the Russians, noooooooooo.

As for Lucas North will always be John Thorton, the pent up passionate Northern mill owner from North and South. He was also a fireman in something. Actually whatever role he plays he has consistantly deliver quality lust to my loins and for that, I thank him.

the bomb defusing was particularly good last night.

I thought it was a matter of disconnecting the correct wire, agonising over red or blue for 2 minutes, then going with red with 2 seconds to spare, but times have changed.

Now you need to melt some stuff, and watch out for the red flashing light.

I wonder how long before Spooks are able to access the amazingly lifelike masks they used in Face Off and MI films?

Do you think someone from the CIA could come over and give them a training course on it?

The suggestion being they are after lucas/john.....I'm starting to wonder how this fits in. As an aside, I;m wondering why I have to watch this or the apprentice on my computer rather than through virgin, where it seems to take a few days before iplayer admits there's an episode to watch. Not sure what find more annoying, that this maybe the last spooks series, that lucas seems to be called john, or that I appear to be spanking ?50 a month on a tv service that's not really offering anything....

    • The MFI was probably where Iceland is now. This post makes me feel very old - went to a 30th birthday party in the garden at the back. Oh to be 30 again!
    • Anyone upgraded their TV for Christmas?! I'm looking for a smallish Smart TV I can use with earbuds. Not more than 56cm high and  25cm deep. A 26" one used to fit.  Thanks!
    • It wasn't an antique and bric-a-bac shop but an antique market with a number of different traders, the cafe supported all the dealers in bringing in custom, and was good enough to generate trade for them. It was Rodney Franklin's and his partners enterprise, he previously had an antique shop in Queenstown Road in Battersea. His late wife ran the cafe (she was a very fine actress, it was a 'resting' job).  It was on the corner of a junction on the left as you head towards Camberwell. And almost opposite, if memory serves at all, an MFI style furniture outlet.
    • i used to go there in the late 80's and '90s (?) the food was served cafeteria style and there was limited choice, but what there was alays tasted amazing!  The garden was an absolute paradise, you could sit in it to lunch in the summer!  i've tried to locate its site but Walworth Road has changed so much since then - does anyone remember the house number?
