Not so much what to do next, but it seems to me that your Mother, understanding the very difficult circumstances you were experiencing in your marriage, wanted to show you that she too had to be strong in her life and had experienced great personal difficulties.

I think she was telling you that you and her came from strong stock and that you too would work through your difficulties, as she had to early in her life.

I'd endorse what legalbeagle said. Good luck with your search. [i hope your new sister likes you....]

I agree with Huguenot, New Zealanders are renowned for their profuse and unruley pubic hair. I once had a flat mate from Christchurch who had a bikin line from her nipples to her knees. Think carefully sweetie...

It's his sister DM. I don't think he'll be going there....

Oh I won't worry, I quite like Rugby.

Dear DM........I'm getting soft. I was going to PM you on how nice a message you previously posted..........so un DMish, if you know what I mean. Then you introduce pubic hair into the discussion. I once experienced a shock of your proportions in the pool at Crystal Palace when I used take my baby boy there for swimming/splashing lessions. As much of a shock as that might have been (I was the only adult male there) I wouldn't have felt the need to share it without you having brought up the subject. Can you stick to the topic in future please?

Declan dear heart, was the female swimmer from New Zealand? Or was she German? Although German's seem to wear underarm hair as a badge of pride, more so than the entire bikini paragraph thing. I had to say it, you know it is true, just like the fact that men from Canada all wear enormous Y fronts and all Italian men have genital herpes.

I am not being racialist, I am just stating facts.

You don't think that writing for the Daily Mail is starting to effect my personality do you?

No idea if she was from NZ, DM. However she was exposing more hair than I have on my chest (and I don't mean what was on her head). I wouldn't hazard a guess if you have suffered a change of personality due to writing for the Daily Mail. I imagine though one would have to read it for that to happen. What do you think?

An update

After taking on the kind words and advice offered here, I did what I'm really good at. I hid under my shell and pretended it will all go away.

Until last week( and on the 6th anniversary of my Mother's passing!) and due to my Uncles unique surname a lady, my Sister got in touch. She's 60 living in Queensland and err... she's my Sister.

Mind blown, thanks everyone.

    • It may be that the original purpose of the noticeboards could be changed to suit the changing needs of the ‘community’
    • Yes. I had already offered to do so  some time ago if you are not able to do this yourself. Monica is not in there every day, and it is holiday season at the moment. I will try to catch up with her in the next few weeks. I assume there is no hurry as this has been dragging on for so long. I will find out whether there was more than one key holder, or whether there was one for every notice board. Also whether the same key (or copies of the same key)  was used for each board. I will also find out how Monica  liaised with the relevant people on the council and what their job titles were I will ask what system there was for ensuring that only neutral and non commercial information is displayed on the boards, for getting that information and for updating it. Before I speak to Monica, it would be helpful to know if jellybeanz is offering to be the key holder for all the noticeboards and keep them up to date, or alternatively if anybody else apart from jellybeanz is willing to have a key. Please private message me if you prefer. I should make it clear that I am not offering to be a key holder or to be involved in this any further than I have outlined above. And also that I am not "getting a key". I am just finding out more from Monica. I feel that it would have been helpful to have addressed these practical issues at the outset.
    • I'm an air conditioning installer - this is everything you need to know about getting it fitted https://mol.im/a/14875047 via https://dailym.ai/android   This may be helpful (sorry it's the Daily Mail!)
    • I don’t want the gatekeepers/key holders deciding what or what doesn’t merit being on the board. It’s for council/municipal information only. It’s not right that commercial or political parties or social campaigners be allowed to take advantage of such a facility. So, if the key holder can work with the relevant councillor/s, this would be a great idea. If not, it woudn’t.
