And this has what do do with Child abuse in Ireland, exactly?

I was sorry to see that the cathedral in my home town was burnt to a shell in the early hours of yesterday. It was probably the only building on note in the town and goes back to 1840.

The Guards are investigating the cause. It will be intersting to find out if it was arson.

Edited to add the strange case of the bishop saying the last mass there referred in his sermon to a convent which was burned down in 1642! Was it a case of the bishop in the cathedral with the matches? (played Cluedo last night)

I received this text message:

The Pope gets attacked.

The Catholic Church is in shame over decades of child abuse.

Rangers are top of the league and Gerry Adams declared incest in his family.

Carlsberg don't usually do Christmas for Prods..........but they've managed it this year.

    • DKH was two form entry, it is now one form entry to cope with the fact it was far more under subscribed than other schools in the area. They had actually combined year groups into single classes, 3/4 and 5/6.  When a school changes name, it’s usually because of a bad reputation perhaps the results.  The new name is dry with no history unlike its current name. It’s a very sketchy decision. It’s an expensive vanity project for someone.  What  will happen if the name change does not increase applications to the school?
    • @first mate I assume Alice made a mistake, as she removed her reaction.  I was wondering about park wardens. As I said, there was one there last night, who was incredibly helpful and proactive. As well as bringing me to the police, he caught up with a young guy on a bike who'd earlier been the victim of an attempted theft by these kids and linked him up with the police too. But I do wonder, as I've only very occasionally seen him riding around, how many they have and what hours they patrol. I've no doubt they'd be a strong deterrent if they had a better presence. They were nowhere to be seen the first time around.  Update: I've just found this: https://services.southwark.gov.uk/community-safety/community-wardens The guy in the photo at the bottom of the page was the lovely warden of last night and I've just now remembered him telling me he's based in Burgess Park. Anyway, there needs to be more of them, as I rarely see one in Peckham.
