Please can you help? I want to change my username or re-register with a new one. I've just found out my boss reads the forum........When I try to register a new user name I get a message that says this email account is already registered to a user ie. me. Does this mean only one person from each email address can use the forum? How can I get a new username without changing my email address?

I can't edit my post on the Orchid thread (simply want to expound on what looks like a vulgar outburst).

I've tested it on the song game thread and that's working. When I press post on this thread I guess I'll know if this one works.

Any reason, or have I been banned from that thread?

I thought your association of bollocks and orchids showed a great degree of erudition :)

Hello, I was wondering if it's possible to have a message that comes up when you start a new thread that asks if the poster is definitely posting in the right section with a brief run down of what each section is for? It might be impossible but I thought it was worth suggesting. Thank you

Hi sophiesofa, that would be a great feature as people posting messages posting in the wrong section is too common, unfortunately it is not possible unless we get someone to programme the feature for us. It is on out list of "nice to haves" for the forum and hopefully we could work something out one day.

Dear admin,

I've no problem with you amending the wording of my thread about the N-word in the drawing room if some people are finding it offensive (and perhaps being deterred from reading it).

However could you please re-insert the word 'necessarily' as I think the sense has now been changed. As it stands it implies I'm questioning whether it is racist at all. If the amended wording were to read 'Is the N-word necessarily racist' it keeps my original sense of accepting it is racist but not (necessarily) always.

    • A lot to agree with here - don’t get me started on Irish people complaining about immigration! - but that final paragraph is once again a cop out  there’s a lot of extreme right wing money stirring up the division that people are feeling - but there is zero excuse for handing power to these people. We live in a democracy and if we have enough people willing to give it up then judging those people foolish enough to do so is not only something that will happen, it is something that the rest of us should be morally compelled to do  if someone wouldn’t “normally” vote for a racist party yet somehow will do so because they hear someone like me saying that would be bad, then you better believe I’m judging them

    • The current wave of xenophobia is due to powerful/influential people stirring up hatred.  It;'s what happened in the past, think 1930s Germany.  It seems to be even easier now as so many get their information from social media, whether it is right or wrong.  The media seeking so called balance will bring some nutter on, they don't then bring a nutter on to counteract that. They now seem to turn to Reform at the first opportunity. So your life is 'shite', let;s blame someone else.  Whilst sounding a bit like a Tory, taking some ownership/personal responsibility would be a start.  There are some situations where that may be more challenging, in deindustrialised 'left behind' wasteland we can't all get on our bikes and find work.  But I loathe how it is now popular to blame those of us from relatively modest backgrounds, like me, who did see education and knowledge as a way to self improve. Now we are seen by some as smug liberals......
