OK, it's fixed. We did a database backup earlier today and the 2.7Gb of it filled up the server and stopped the search working. We deleted some old backups and there seems to be enough space for the system to work properly now. Phew!
Because the issue people were interested in 3 years ago is again current. I was asking if it was ok to post a note on the old thread alerting those that had posted (and particularly had requested to be notified of new replies) that the issue was live again, and then to have it locked so there were not two threads on the issue. I think you are confusing locking with sticky, but I am by no means au fait with forum lingo so please do correct me if I am getting it wrong.

(6) A home-school agreement shall not be capable of creating any obligation in respect of whose breach any liability arises in contract or in tort.

I posted the above, from one of Her Majesty's statutes, and the first three characters (an open bracket, a 6, a close bracket) got transformed (as they are here) into an evil smiley.

Can the Hon. Admin please confirm that this is not the first stage in a cyber-terrorist attack on the forum.

It's monitored in a reactive way, hopefully that's well enough to allow most to enjoy the forum without interruption.

No jobs going at the moment I'm afraid, but I'm sure Admin will come knocking if he needs a hand.

Hi

I'll answer these as I set them up. The ads should be sat on the right of the forum, and only in the classifieds section. Are you seeing something different? If you are please let me know. Also I've written a small piece about the ads here http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?12,566582

    • Our latest guest says that politicisation of universities is unhealthy, and the equation "Empire = Evil" is not historically tenable. He was used to speaking openly. Then in 2017 a Cambridge academic posted on social media in response to Biggar's proposed project looking at the Good and the Bad in Empire: "OMG this is serious shit. We Must CLOSE THIS DOWN." In his words, he saw there was a problem. Problems remain with embedded intolerance but this new member of the House of Lords still aspires to determine the truth of things. Meet Lord Biggar of Castle Douglas CBE, Regius Professor Emeritus of Moral & Pastoral Theology at Oxford University, on his visit to Peckham to talk with Chris Haydon and a small invited audience.
    • What has any of this got to do with Gala?
    • I suspect Lambeth's legal team have decided that it is far better to potentially upset a High Court judge (maybe beg for forgiveness) than face the wrath of the legal teams of event organisers, promoters, service providers who would come after them for a lot of money if the event had to be cancelled. Clearly the original error was on the part of the council so I suspect that would make them liable for any losses/reputation damage incurred due cancellation/disruption.
    • I suspect it was putting "not bankrupting Lambeth Council" considerations first. Cancelling those festivals at a week to go could have been financially catastrophic and may have unleashed financial hell on Lambeth.
