Melihoople
North dulwich station has steps and a bridge that has just been built half way down the platform. Currently not in use and not connected to anywhere. When i asked the station guy he was his usual helpful self and suggested repairs which would mean walking over the bridge to access the platform affected. This would make north dulwich unusable for my parents. I can just do it with a pram but not adding in 2 more long steep flights of steps. Worried i need to start finding a different route to work...Does anyone know any more? Lowlander
Ah, that makes sense been wondering what they're for. The current stairs are in a bad state of repair, so it seems they'll be closing one set at a time to refurbish them. The scaffold stairs are definitely only temporary so may be best to avoid the station until the refurbishment is complete... Melihoople
It will be from April to June - which means I will have to change my daily commute as carrying a buggy up and down 3 flights of stairs won't be achievable for me...sob sob! I wouldn't mind if they were working out a way to put lifts in.. EDOldie
I think the Dulwich Society has been pressing them to put in lifts, maybe this is the start? Melihoople
I really hope so - it must be one of the most inaccessible stations in terms of mobility. Lowlander
Well they're in use as of today, Platform 1 (towards London Bridge) takes an extra minute or two to get to. DovertheRoad
It's quite fun to arrive early on platform one and watch people who usually cut it fine but haven't realised sprint down platform two to make the train. cheap thrills. dc
It is a project to replace the stairs which are unsafe (making them slightly wider in the process). No lifts will be installed. Here is a link to the relevant Network Rail document:http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk/documents/?GetDocument=%7b%7b%7b!5MSlEkj7U7G5i9CpaWEPLg%3d%3d!%7d%7d%7d Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/98112-north-dulwich-station-temporary-steps-does-anyone-know/#findComment-1001713 Share on other sites

Sesame
Does anyone know if you still need to use the temporary bridge and therefore 3 flights of stairs if going to London Bridge? L16579
As of this morning you still have to use the temporary bridge, also I think it will be a while before the work on platform 1 is complete. There is a poster in the station stating when but I can't remember the exact dates.
