Best coffee in London?

Marmora Man

Recommended Posts

I may be late on this but late last night I had the best expresso I have ever drunk outside Italy - at Caffe Vergnano in Charing CRoss Road. They seem to have just three outlets so not, yet, a nationwide chain but I predict a great future if my experience of their wares is anything to go by.

Highly recommended if you're near one of the three branches - Charing Cross Road, Southbank and Chancery Lane.

PS: I have nothing to do with the company - but if they're selling franchises I'd be tempted.

Vergano are an international company, they do OK in Europe. There are quite a few cafes selling fresh roast beans near charing cross. Try Monmouth or Bullet. Vergnano is no better than Illy or Lavazza for me, all stale.

Best espresso in London? The Exchange at Lewisham Market.

Most recently in the Times ?Coffee Uncovered? publication, under the title of London's top spot for a coffee break, it credits Caff? Vergnano as serving "the best espresso in London".

I will second that. I adore Monmouth in Borough Market on Friday afternoons. The weekend can begin!

Yellow bourbon is the bean without equals. Region - I try to keep an open mind but tend to buy Latin or South America.

Was once sold a single estate Nicaraguan coffee described as the Marmite of the coffee world - you either love it or ate it.
