messageContents Insurance in ED is Expensive

I'm just getting some quotes for a new contents insurance for a three bed house in ED. My quotes are all aroung £55 a month which is quite a lot more than I currently pay in a reasonably rough street in SW11. Is ED a den of thieves?

Building insurance is a lot more too. I think this is because of subsidence in the area but I don't see why this should affect a contents policy.

Direct Line is the cheapest so far.

I pay around £40 per month for combined contents and buildings for a small 3 bed house in an SE22 postcode. Legal & General (I think, the one with the umbrella logo)

The AA quoted us hundreds of pounds less than some others. We paid around £550 per annum for building and contents for a 3 bed house.

Thanks for the tips. I've just had a much better quote from Legal and General.

I pay less than £30 per month thru Lloyds TSB as I have an account with them. Contents only though as I'm renting so don't have to worry about buildings insurance.

Also try a quote from ING online. They are/were very cheap (less than £30 per mth).

When I rang Nat West (my current insurer) to cancel they undercut L&G so I'm going to be paying £28 a month which is more like it.
