6am bin collections - Friern Road and surrounding area
templeton replied to Judy2's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Perhaps the council could ring you the night before and check what time suits you best. -
Has anyone read anything by George Pelecanos, who was a producer and writer on the show. They are absolutely brilliant, well worth a read if you like the Wire.

Beer is free if you are getting your hair cut, i don't think you can just rock up and have a few to pass the time. it's only cheap supermarket stuff, but better than nothing.

The barbers on Barry Road always offer a beer. I've been loyal ever since.

Charity Shop Opposite Sommerfield
templeton replied to seanmlow's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think people dumping stuff outside these shops are more at fault than people going through it. They must have to bin everything that is left out overnight in the rain anyway. -
Stop boasting Lofty, i still beat you :)

Do you have an issue with ambitious women Snorky?

There's an Eight and a Zero stood next to each other, and the Zero says to the Eight "How come you've got your belt done up so tightly then?".

Just wondering about the EDT myself Lofty, perhaps I'll give it a go this weekend.

Proles?? He runs his own business, hardly proletariat material. -
I agree they are too big to eat comfortably. They need to watch that Heston Blumenthal show where his 'perfect burger' was 2.5inches deep (i think) as this allowed you to get an even mouthful everytime.

Contents Insurance in ED is Expensive
templeton replied to jimbo1964's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The AA quoted us hundreds of pounds less than some others. We paid around ?550 per annum for building and contents for a 3 bed house. -
I like it. Not because of the food, drink or service, but because of the 6ft donkey on the roof outside. That's just brilliant.

Is it just a staggering coincidence that it was called British Airports Authority before it was privatised in the 1980s then?

6 Lordship Lane (& other shop planning applications)
templeton replied to Nero's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I heard Ludlow Thompson were extending into the old William Hill next to the video shop, but that was months ago and nothing has happened. -
Ticket machine at ED station (always out of action)
templeton replied to willma's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I complained to Southern about the rubbish around the station. They replied saying that the land was owned by National Rail and he would forward my complaint to them. I think the train service from ED is actaully pretty good, but you are right the station is an absolute disgrace. -
Louisa, in another thread you are laying into White Stuff because they are a chain. But here you are defending Iceland, despite them being part of a far larger chain. Just struck me as a little odd.

I went to France last year and they spoke French in front of me.... outraged i was! You should get a Welsh speaking au pair and he/she could translate for you.

new coffee bar (was Fresh New Gossip for this Forum)
templeton replied to karter's topic in The Lounge
To be fair the trendy coffee places probably don't take a great deal of trade away from the Castle. East Dulwich can probably accommodate both. -
Does anyone have any idea what it is going to be?
-
I think i summed things up nicely!
