Can't justify the price of Ollys these days. Always been expensive and recently put their prices up again to piss take levels. Rose's is decent enough.

Thank Cod for Ken.
Kenís is featuring on a Netflixís show about Fish & Chips in summer 2020 (no word of a lie)

I have only tried Rose's and Sema's both seemed decent enough for what you pay.

Love an Olly's but I agree with an earlier poster: prices taking the piss!

Ken's good too but we've become big fans of Sea Master near the Rye for the crispy chips & freshly cooked fish. Worth a go.

Another vote for Ken's, though Fish on the Hill on Herne Hill also good when they cook from fresh, I go there when Ken's has too big a queue.

I saw them filming Jay Rayner eating Ken's chips on the bench on Half Moon Lane, apparently for Netflix with some american comedian called Phil Rosenthal, my new york cousin tells me he's a big deal. There's pics on ken's facebook page www.facebook.com/thankcodforkens/.

Let's hope fame doesn't spoil the fish.

My missus and I have been using Sema's for many years - have always found them very good - We tried Olley's a couple of years ago - didn't seem any better than Sema's - certainly over-hyped and not worth the higher prices.

I used to go to Kenís when we lived in Brixton, but since we moved to ED I have been going to Emilyís Plaice on North Cross Road. He takes the skin off the fish for me, which I prefer, and everything is fried fresh. Pretty good prices. And heís a very nice chap.

Agreed ! On the one occasion I tried Emily's the chap in the shop was great as was the fish but there was just something unpleasant about the chips.

But in my experience they are always limp and soft. Good chips should be crispy outside and soft inside, in my opinion.

Sadly, fresh and tasty is not enough where chips are concerned!

Ken's.

Ken's portion of fish and chips easily feeds 2 people.

Now head to Codfellas which is a decent walk, but the quality is really good. Been to Rosies a few times and thats not bad either.

Not northern standards mind you....

I tried Ken's last night for the first time but to be honest me and the cats much prefer Codfellas on Bellenden road by a country mile.

Super nice chips.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Emily's Plaice at 3 North Cross road, 020 8299 4840. They do lovely fish and chips, we phone ahead about 10 minutes before we collect and it's all freshly cooked and delicious. Owner is lovely too 👍

I dislike Emilyís, itís really not that good but thatís because I dislike Ďfresh chipsí and being reminded thatís whatís Iím buying every two minutes while Iím waiting. I stopped going there a while back.
